We urge you to re-create and launch the "Woodsy the Owl" campaign to teach youth about the negative impacts of litter.  From the "Crying Indian" to "Woodsy the Owl", past generations have had iconic spokespeople that represent the negative impacts of plastic litter on the world around us, and inspire them to take an active roll in protecting our environment.

Even in paradise, you can now find litter.  As we can see in the 5 Gyres, litter easily makes it out to the oceans, where strong currents help it accumulate and form large garbage patches.  We need to preserve nature as a pristine place we we can go to regroup, rejuvenate, and relax.

As children, we all learned that it was our responsibility to "Give a hoot - Don't Pollute" but today's generation doesn't have role models like Woodsy to teach them about litter.  We learned from Woodsy that it's our personal responsibility to take care of our environment and dispose of our trash responsibly.

Positive role models teach children to "be the change they wish to see in the world" and in turn inspire others to do the same. If we teach kids to pick up litter then our efforts will create a generation of environmentally responsible citizens.

Regardless of politics, economics, religion, geography, etc., we think most people can agree that litter is bad. Please sign the petition to encourage our leaders to bring back Woodsy to educate a new generation!
