This is a Trick Question. YES WE SHOULD DEFINITELY SHOW OUR COMMITMENT TO NATO. IT HAS BEEN THE BEST DETERRENT TO TERRORISM ON THE COUNTRIES IN THE GROUP. No. Forcing countries to pay more when they’re working on their payments.

Please express US commitment to NATO and somehow apologize to our allies for the disgraceful behavior of our President!

Congress should use more drastic methods to remind NATO allies to meet their defense spending commitments. Alternatively, if 21 NATO members aren’t going to honor their commitments the U.S. should leave the alliance.

I don’t have much faith in this Congress and have had enough publicity stunts to last a lifetime. I only hope our past Presidents and diplomats are reassuring our allies that this clown will be gone soon and we will right the course ASAP!

I think the whole world needs to cut there military budget by 7% especially Our Country who has a bloated military budget as is. Shoot our Budget beats 12 other country's combined,and has for years! Cut all military spending by 7% should be the world's Goal. #EndTheWars

I think this obsession over defense spending is ridiculous to begin with. We need to focus demilitarizing the world, not militarizing it even further.

An act of Congress is Meaningless. Congress doesn’t manage NATO. This is made for TV theatre. Allied nations have increased their financial participation, based on the 2014 agreement, under President Obama. If the US doesn’t like the contribution status, then reduce our own contribution to 2% and stop whining. #Stopwhining #SupportOurAllies
NATO, along with the UN, May be outmoded institutions. The President seems to think we as a country can do better dealing with other countries by ourselves, and we would save a lot of money by pulling out of both of them.

NATO is the most successful and important alliance in history and the North Atlantic Treaty has prevented a 3rd World War for about 70 years now. It’s a very productive and useful organization, unlike the UN. But, the other member States simply need to boost their defense spending quicker in the face of a more aggressive Russia and the IslamoNazi Republic of Iran.
They were already on the path to meeting that goal. So, no need to include that portion of the bill. Otherwise, I am all for supporting Ally’s. This president seems to favor long time enemies of the state. That is very disturbing.

NATO is the only force in the world that will do anything if World War 3 erupts. The UN is filled with too much politics and bickering to be effective, it is now a useless instrument of cooperation. If World War 3 erupts, NATO will be mobilizing in force while UN bureaucrats bicker and blame one another.
