senate Bill S. Res. 247

Should June Be Designated as LGBTQ Pride Month?

Argument in favor

Pride Month is an important celebration of the LGBTQ community and its contributions to U.S. history. Formally designating June as Pride Month honors the LGBTQ community and ensures all Americans will have the opportunity to learn about the LGBTQ community’s contributions to our country.

It is already. Mediocre easily hurt males need to worry about real problems instead of fragile feelings.

LGBTQ Americans are very important to the history of this country and deserve to have their valuable contributions recognized. As the current administration continues to walk our progress backward, let Congress recognize those who’ve fought and died fighting against discrimination, on behalf of equality!

Argument opposed

There’s no need to formally designate June as Pride Month at a Congressional level, since Pride celebrations in June are already firmly ingrained in the U.S. culture. Additionally, this may offend Americans who don’t support the LGBTQ community for religious or personal reasons.

Stop forcing your agenda down people's throat. I'm all for gay people. I'm against constantly bombarded people with any ideology.

Everyone is equal...idiots. No special month to proclaim LGBT pride. Then let’s have a month for straight persons, a month for blondes, a month for redheads! Ridiculous.

With all the pressing issues this nation is facing, a lawmaker in Congress is focused on this? Sad. So sad.

Lots of people will respond with "What's the point?" If that's how you feel, and you think it doesn't matter, then why not let it happen? Because it will matter for us. It's like the feeling when family accepts you: it doesn't change rightness or wrongness, but it does bring peace. This isn't political, it's just a gesture of goodwill.

We have Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, and probably others. Why not a Pride Month? It could be argued it’s celebrated harder than any of the others I’ve mentioned, and I’m sure the same “don’t shove your ideologies in my face” arguments were used against those too. Oh well! If you don’t like it, don’t celebrate. Non-Christians have to deal with more than a month of Christmas-centered celebration every year.

I do not agree with honoring any group of people whether they are gay, black, Hispanic, transgender or whatever. We are Americans regardless. Perhaps we should enact every month as American Pride month and start acting like the great citizens we should be. No one should be distinguished or honored over and above any other.

No! Absolutely NOT! Let’s have an American pride year and leave it at that. I’m sick of all these special interest pride months. They cheapen the month and the pride.

No. Unless you're willing to make July Anti-abortion month and August second amendment month and September No More Taxes month and October Law enforcement month... Catch my drift?
