Should Congress Terminate the Border Security Emergency Declared by President Trump?

Argument in favor

President Donald Trump usurped congressional authority by arbitrarily declaring a national emergency in an effort to fund construction of his border wall. Congress ought to exercise its constitutional power as a coequal branch of government by terminating the emergency declaration.

If there were any deportations of the drug lords, cartel enforcers, human traffickers or crazed gang members that was THE JUSTIFICATION for declaring a border emergency and the WALL, I would say OK. There were none. All I have seen is the mass deportation of people who have lived here peacefully for years, worked hard to support their families, paid their federal taxes, supported our military and behaved as good citizen's. So the "border crisis" is bullshit. I wonder how many rich folk, how many white supremacists, how many Congressman- dutifully pay their fair share of federal taxes? As far as the massive influx of immigrants, this was a manufactured crisis due to our stopping humanitarian aid to South American countries whose food chain has been ravaged by climate change as well as those wanting to get here before the promised more stringent barriers are fully imposed. trump manufactured this ‘crisis’ based on race based hate to have a rallying point for those who are easily swayed by slogans, chants and innuendo.

Argument opposed

For better or worse, Congress gave the president the power to declare emergencies and use certain defense funds to address them. This bill is nothing more than an attempt by Democrats to score political points, as they know they won’t have the votes to override President Trump’s veto.

Congress has been unwilling to protect the United States by reforming immigration. The president has been stopped at every turn by a congress that wants open borders and wants the tax payer to pay for illegal immigration and support the Democrat party. Pass a bill that is a true immigration policy. Protect the borders and citizens of the United States.

Just more PROOF, that Democrats respect and love Illegal immigrants more than their constituents. They are GRAND STANDING for POLITICAL PURPOSES only. Fix the LAWS and the PROBLEM goes away. Geez how simple would this be!!!!But no. The Democrats want to have a bigger voter base with illegal immigrants voting in elections that have NO ID REQUIREMENTS. Go figure.

First we need border walls to keep our illegals that drain our schools, housing, social benefits, & resources! Second we don’t need illegals suing & murdering people who actually have a right to be in this country! There has been way to much of the illegals have more rights than citizens going on! Citizens have the rights everyone else needs to be send back where they came from we have room for patient legal immigration that wait three years paying lawyers fees! Build the wall taller, thicker, deeper & with more censors, drones, lights!
