senate Bill S. Joint Res. 42

Should Congress Prohibit the Sale of Precision Weapons to Saudi Arabia?

Argument in favor

Saudi Arabia’s past support of terrorism, poor human rights record, and questionable tactics in its war in Yemen should preclude it from receiving precision guided weapons.

Of course! Saudi Arabia has been supporting terrorism by spreading the extremist ideology of Wahhabism across the world and funding extremist rebels in Syria. They have also been involved in a humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen by bombing civilians there. Not to mention, they are an absolute monarchy where human rights are nonexistent. Why should we even consider selling arms to them?

Argument opposed

Saudi Arabia is one of the most reliable U.S. allies in the Middle East and is currently fighting ISIS and Al Qaeda in Yemen. These weapons would help them defeat those terror groups.

Why do we continue to support them? The human rights violations there should immediately discount them as allies.

See this as merely another roadblock to the implementation of President Trumps agenda. We the People voted for him - his promise to take care of "Radical Islamic Terrorism" is part of this agenda. His acceptance by those nations who agreed to help us wipe out this terror should not be ignored. They are willing to fight with us. Please don't make it impossible for him to do this.

ARMING MORE GOVERNMENTS THAT HAVE A HISTORY OF TURNING A BLIND EYE TO TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS IS NOT IN THE STRATEGIC INTERESTS OF THE UNITED STATES..... WHERE WILL THESE ARMS BE IN 10 YEARS?

Some Saudi tanks already go to ISIS. Why are we propping up despotic monarchies in countries where government insiders export and support terrorism?

Saudi Arabia is fighting much terrorism. However, they do so while terrorizing their own citizens. We absolutely can not trust them to do the right thing with these weapons. How many times must we make the same mistakes before we learn!!!

This bill has been rejected by the Senate. TAKE NOTE OF EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED IT AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY, THOSE WHO VOTED AGAINST IT! I believe this arms sale to Saudi Arabia is A VERY BAD IDEA!!! I'd be interested in knowing if the Council on Foreign Relations is behind this arms deal! The CFR runs the David Rockefeller Studies Program, and if you'll remember, David Rockefeller's name is synonymous with THE NWO! More looking into this is necessary! Don't know much about the CFR? Here's some info (for a start): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_on_Foreign_Relations On the Motion to Discharge S.J.Res. 42 This vote was related to a resolution introduced by Sen. Afghanistan should have taught the US a valuable lesson . We are fighting the enemy with the weapons that were given to them and trained to use them . This week we lost 3 soldiers in the Nangahar Province. Their killer was a soldier in the Afghanistan Army they were teaching .One of the young men that died was from Youngsville , NC .Do not give arms away to people that we have unsettled business with .

The U.S. giving arms to the Saudis indirectly and directly is the reason hundreds of thousands have been dying in Yemen. Stop the sale of arms and stop the coalition.

Please vote in support of this effort to limit the types of weapons we are providing to a known human rights abuser. We need to stand up for civil rights around the world, even with our "allies." There are also serious concerns also that these weapons will be used to target Yemeni civilians and further alienate that country from our interests. Please support Senate JR 42.

The Saudis have proven that they are not to be trusted. They have been, and are human rights and rules of war violators. Selling these sophisticated weapons is tantamount to sanctioning such violations.

Saudi Arabia's influence in the Middle East and their using our weapons to furnish those who are not our allies is troubling if not appalling, and certainly not in our best interest. Their harmful human rights agenda does not fit what we historically stand for. At heart I do not believe they are truly our ally, but use us for their own purposes. Please vote against sending them any further weapons of any make or model.
