Should Congress Block an Arms Deal Allowing Saudi Arabia to Manufacture Fuzes for Precision Guided Bombs?

Saudi Arabia has strained its alliance with the U.S. through its indiscriminate bombing campaign in Yemen, its murder of Jamal Khashoggi, and its repression of human rights domestically. Blocking this and other arms sales will send a message to Saudi Arabia to change its behavior or risk losing the friendship of the U.S.

Yes, block the sale. Override trump’s veto. At least follow up on what you already voted for. Assert Congressional authority and honor the commitment which you have already made. It may be your last chance before trump asserts a imaginary national emergency, declares Marshall law and has you all imprisoned. You think this sounds extreme? That’s what we thought about each of his prior increasingly extreme actions which you have not challenged and now seem to be acceptable practice. Time for adults to collectively stand up to this bully and stop him from getting any worse. If party leadership wants to play politics instead- ignore them and do what you know is right...

Saudi Arabia is not our friend! They are not our ally! They are a murderous authoritarian regime responsible for war crimes in Yemen and the killing of Jamal Khashoggi. We shouldn’t be selling anything to them! We should be sanctioning the hell out of them!

It’s purely common sense to block this arms deal, Saudi Arabia has not been a decent ally to the United States. If we don’t block this Arms deal, who knows what they could do next.

Saudi Arabia is a key U.S. ally in bringing stability to the Middle East, and while there are obvious tensions and challenges in that alliance that need resolution this bill would unwisely undermine Saudi Arabia’s defense capabilities at a time of heightened aggression from Iran and likely increase civilian casualties in Yemen.

Take back the House in 2020 and get the gavel outa the Democrats hands, take care of the people’s business and stop the Democrats from chasing their own tails. I still find it hard to believe that we would continue to arm a country like Saudi Arabia who continues to suppress even basic human rights. They kill people they don’t like and we become complicit by continually arming them. Our country used to support human rights and democracy. It seems we now only support arms dealers and bankers. It’s a sad day for our democracy.
America cannot stand as a moral beacon to the world while we support terrorists.

Let's remember 9/11. It was the Saudis behind those attacks. Saudis are extremely anti-western. The House and Senate blocked the sell of an arms package estimated to be 8 billion worth of precision guided munitions, other bombs and ammunition, and aircraft maintenance support to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The Presidents veto and subsequent “loophole”, claiming he has an “emergency need to sell” seems another attempt to circumvent Congress.
If the continued attempts to circumvent Congress continue there will be no Democracy.
Take the appropriate action vs the road of cowardliness avoidance to act.
This needs to be blocked, I.e. the veto overrided. We should not support this murderous regime and probably line GOP pockets at the same time. This sale will also create an imbalance in the Middle East, also very dangerous.
