Abortion coverage for women who receive their health coverage from the federal government is a matter of public health and reproductive rights. Blocking federal funding for abortion disproportionately hurts low-income and minority women as well as women in D.C., the military and the Peace Corps.

Abortions still take place even when it’s illegal. The only difference is safety. If the Supreme Court overturns Roe vs. Wade , women of means will still be getting safe abortions. Women who are poor, minorities, rape survivors, abused and very young will be at highest risk for botched abortions. These are the very people our government should be helping the most.

The Hyde amendment needs to be repealed! The reproductive rights of women is a matter of societal health, therefore the government should fund it!

Preventing federal dollars’ use for abortion funding is an important free speech protection for those who oppose abortion on religious or personal grounds. Using taxpayer money to fund abortion would necessarily mean that all Americans, regardless of personal beliefs, would be involved in enabling abortion — violating abortion opponents’ free speech rights.

If you want the government to stay out of your decision to have a baby or not then why do you want the government to pay for you to kill your baby? I'd like to know what everyone thinks that Obama signed an executive order to keep the Hyde Amendment in Obamacare, Telling you don't bring THAT up.

I am 72 years old and have been fighting for abortion rights since I was 19. If anything, I see even more clearly now that a legal alternative to the “coat hanger” abortion is needed.
The government does not decide what women do with their lives. But what the government should do is provide a single-payer healthcare system. Abortion is healthcare; therefore, it would fall under that healthcare system and be covered by taxes.

Birth control and abortions need to be fully funded or the only people that will be able to afford either will be rich women. You need to trust women, it’s our body and our choice. Or start a mandatory vasectomy program since that’s easily reversible .

Abortions fall under healthcare, and the government should definitely use taxes to fund this. Abortion should remain a right for women, and this bill provides this service to women using taxes. I support this bill.
Many women in my family have died in childbirth or become disabled from a pregnancy. We also have had several fetal abnormalities that required an abortion. This should be covered by healthcare
This is a healthcare issue for disenfranchised women. It is not a moral or religious issue. If you don’t believe in abortion, don’t have one. Any restriction on abortion is endangering those most at risk.
Not allowing federal funds to be used for abortions unfairly penalized women of color and poor women. The full federal funding of ALL aspects of women’s health care would make it possible to bring the levels of poor healthy babies and moms of color closer to the levels experienced among white middle-class and working white and wealthier moms and babies. It’s about equity and fairness, and the woman’s right to decide in consultation with her physician what is best for her. Please vote to end this law which imbedded inequality into our healthcare system!
If federal dollars fund other medical procedures, then it should fund abortion. Stop getting righteous about other people’s medical decisions.
