Blue Alert: Does the Nation Need a Network to Monitor Threats Against Police Officers?
Argument in favor
Implementing this voluntary Blue Alert network would help law enforcement officers protect themselves in the line of duty. It would also help coordinate efforts to catch people who wish to harm police officers.

Unfortunately this administration has created a division and hostile atmosphere toward police. Gangs and thugs feel empowered to commits violent acts against police due in part to the rhetoric of this White House. Should it be permanent? Probably not. But start with something temporary and go from there.

Whom would I trust to help me when a crime is committed against me? Let's see ... hmmm ... NOT the feds! Do crooked, evil people work as policemen? Of course, as in any occupation, there must be a few. However, I have never encountered any, not even when I received well-deserved (I am so embarrassed) speeding tickets. All have been polite and efficient. Why? Probably because I was so with them. Our police officers need all the help they can get with their own protection while they protect the rest of us. HOWEVER, this does NOT mean we need to have national police. We already have the FBI and federal marshals. A national network to prevent murdering anybody in this country is a great idea as long as it does NOT result in a D.C.-centered and controlled national police department.

Law enforcement agencies already have to cooperate on issues like this, and while this bill would create a dedicated network for that cooperation — it's totally voluntary. How effective can this network be?

Much as I like our policemen to be safe and protected, I find this proposal redundant and wasteful. I don't support this bill.

We need alerts to warn average citizens that renegade racist wet behind the ears cops are patrolling the area
Due to the police brutality, deaths and unwarranted arrests that has plague the USA for endless decades, I can see this as a non-issue to raise. Meaning, should they gain more legal support than they already have? Otherwise, we're deliberately back to square one with a vengeance.
If this bill is capable of allowing police officers operate without any serious threats to their health and safety, then I'm all for it. People like to forget that the police are our neighbors and friends, and thus deserve to feel as safe from harm as we do.

I do believe our police officers could be better prepared if foreign or domestic threats were made against them. They should be part of our FBI & CIA when looking to protect Americans against violent attacks within our own borders. If our agencies, our police departments and our reserve military can work in unison, we may be better equipped to ward off attacks. What I do oppose is fighting fellow Americans who may be using their 1st Amendment Rights to Protest.

Although law enforcement agencies already work together to alert one another of threats to officers, that network isn't as streamlined as it ought to be as seen in the December 2014 of Officers Ramos and Liu. This bill would help streamline the process of alerting other departments of potential threats.
Due to recent national issues sparking lawlessness and disrespect for law enforcement they need all the help they can get including body Armor, riot gear and anything that keeps them safe. This is a good program if all participate.
Given that it will be established on a voluntary basis the program will not be streamlined and thus a waste of taxpayer funds. In addition there is already cross-communication regarding these threats, I feel this program would be redundant, something we don't need anymore of in government.
We need to rid our police of constitutional violations and serial killers with badges.
