senate Bill S. 66

Should the U.S. Base its Carbon Emission Goals on China, India, and Russia?

Argument in favor

China, India, and Russia are among the largest global polluters. These countries need to commit to cutting back their emission levels if they expect the U.S. to do the same.

Stop calling it Climate Change. It is Global Warming and it is a hoax. The greatest Marxist scheme ever conceived. Not a single global warming model has even been remotely accurate. There should not be any regulation around carbon dioxide emissions.

It's not global warming, it's a natural change that the world goes through and there's nothing we can do about it. Look back years ago at how the world has changed since.

Yeah, when pigs fly! This is part of the UN's Agenda 21/30. We've got more important things to worry about than carbon emissions, like all the toxins being discharged into both our fresh water sources and our oceans, and like the shrinking of our rainforests due to population growth and deforestation to grow cash crops. Healthy oceans and large rainforests play a significant role in regulating our climate.

Argument opposed

As a global leader, the U.S. needs to own up to its pollution and lead the way in environment policy reform by reducing carbon emissions.

If we are to be taken seriously as the world's most powerful and influential superpower then we need to lead by example.

To rely on other countries to dictate our decisions on climate change is like a child saying "mommy, he didn't have to clean up his room so I dont think I should either.

The United States needs to lead the effort of cutting back on carbon pollution, and make this world a more habitable place for future generations. Future generations will look back on us, and question why we didn't do enough to stop the excess pollution to our Earth. We need to promote more green energy and have the government provide benefits to green energy corporations, and not towards companies that provide toxic gas and oil.

We all ultimately suffer from excessive carbon emissions. Every country should aim to regulate greenhouse gas emissions regardless of what other countries do.

"Jimmy down the street does it" is not a valid excuse for not taking care of our own pollution, whether we are the first, fifth, or last, we need to take responsibility for our own detriment on the environment.

The "I won't do it until you do it first" mentality of this bill is childish. The shortcomings of other countries do not give us a free pass to be 'just as bad as them'. America doesn't need to wait for someone else to pave the way to progress when we're perfectly capable of doing it ourselves.

First off, there should be NO carbon regulation whatsoever. Secondly, it is absurd for us to cripple our economy with expensive carbon regulations when massive industrial nations like China and India (rightfully) ignore them.

If you want to be the leader of something you take the lead and be the example. And we've already past the point of no return so let's quit with the politics of it and get it done.

America is supposed to better than China and India. I hate to use such an old platitude, but if China jumped off a cliff would we do it too?

Change the counties listed to France, Denmark, and Sweden, and the supporters and detractors flip, which is exactly why this is a terrible way to set carbon goals.
