Pain management should never be decided by the government. Medical issues should be handled by doctors. Every person is different and everybody has different pain tolerance and different medications work for different people. Different injuries and disease require different treatment. Please do not allow government to decide what treatments that I need.

Sometimes I read these bills and wonder if the people proposing them have an even basic understanding of what these bills would cause to happen.

As a chronic pain patient I absolutely object to limiting effective medications for those who suffer pain daily. We need to develop more effective medications along with the excellent medications that are currently available. Everyone is different. Treating pain is never one size fits all.

Another horrible idea. This bill contains incorrect information: The U.S. does not use 80% of the world's pain medications. Politifact has debunked that myth. And why on earth would it help anyone to destabilize and disrupt the lives of people living with end-stage cancer, sickle-cell disease, injuries and rare diseases? How on earth does it prevent addiction to remove stable medication from the sickest Americans?

It's time the government realized that limiting medications to legitimate patients is not the answer to combat addiction. Doctors are already afraid to prescribe in some parts of the country to the point that people aren't even receiving proper pain relief after surgery and even end of life cancer victims are left to suffer. Let's back off and let the doctors go back to treating their patients.

I am a Chronic Pain patient and I also have panic attacks. Do you really think going after the doctors and pharmacists is the right thing to do? I would like the government out of my doctor’s office please!! You are targeting the wrong people! I would like to be able to function daily and opioids are the only pain medication that works for my type of pain. Please vote NO on this bill and consider helping the CPP community not criminalizing us!!

Prescribed opioids as used for both acute and chronic pain are safe as used as directed and not used with alcohol.

Dangerous Opioids? The dangerous opioids are the ILLICIT ones found on the streets making their way from china and the southern border. If the CDC had been doing their job and demanded precise toxicology reports to gauge WHICH drugs were in the body of the person who overdosed, you would have found that instead of villianizing pain medication that 50 million legitimate pain patients rely on to lead a life of quality and meaning, you would have been able to pinpoint that ILLICIT Fentanyl and heroin were the culprits. This bill picks and chooses which medication is going to be available to the millions of chronic pain patients and doesnt address the fact that the myriad of chronic illnesses require a myriad of treatment options. This is not a one size fits all reality.Let our doctors treat us with the expertise they devoted their lives to. Politicians are grasping for straws with these daily anti opioid laws .I have yet to see a logical Bill come thru either chamber that addresses the ILLICIT OPIOID problem. Stop the drugs coming into the country illegally. Not the drugs exiting the pharmacies

Why remove what works to keep patient comfortable , why not just make more for newer pain patients that aren’t addictive , but work the same as the ones that keep people from debilitating pain , and stop trying to play doc , the docs did what they were supposed to as per their pain contract and urine screening , when someone came in with issues with drug test bad and overtaking meds , docs cut them off like they said they would , it don’t make the meds bad or the docs bad c it makes the person an addict because they chose to do heroin , fentanyl isn’t being prescribed by docs , those ur letting come across the borders in to our towns , that’s where this epidemic is. It’s not the ex controlled medicines , that most cpp patients have been on 20 plus years and never once went to a street drug . Stop punishing pain patients for issues they have nothing to do with .its inhumane and needs to stop ! Trust me my vote will no longer go towards people in support of these laws anymore , I lost a dear friend to suicide because after 22 years of dealing with a war injury his meds were stopped overnight no help to be tapered off , and that was to much pain , he fought for us and now I’m fighting for his legacy . It’s wrong . Ur one mistake away from a lifeterm disability , wait till u can’t get help to stop the suffering and see if u feel this same way about this mess u caused . It needs to stop

This is horrifying! Patients are already suffering and dying because of existing pain relief medication laws, policies, and guidelines.

Opiates are not dangerous in all hands. I was able to take them responsibly for over a decade. People in chronic pain have limited choices when treating their pain. Don't make an irrational decision on a solution that has worked for many years for so many people.

It's BEYOND time for opioid hysteria to end and well BEYOND time for Doctors to be allowed to treat patients with painful diseases as they were trained to do. Politicians need to remember that it's not only illegal to practice medicine without a license, it's also illegal to interfere with the Doctor/patient relationship. Opioids are often less dangerous than tylenol and ibuprofen. Opioid medications have fewer side effects than OTC medications and are not as addictive as PROP keeps insisting. Let Doctors be Doctors and stop telling me how to treat my painful diseases.

This is a TERRIBLE idea! Prescription opioids used to treat serious pain as prescribed by a legitimate doctor under strict medical supervision are NOT dangerous or even especially addictive! The entire narrative that everyone has been told about prescription opioids is FALSE! Opioids are safe, effective, and essential tools used to treat serious medical pain. Opioids are the best tool that doctors presently have with which to treat serious pain, and they are safe and effective when used appropriately and when taken ONLY as prescribed. It is the addiction to, abuse and misuse of prescription opioids, most often bought online illegally WITHOUT a prescription and/or without any doctor being involved , and used for drug abuse purposes, not during proper medical pain care, but that has been involved in our recent opioid related poly drug overdose crisis that is causing the problem. Drug companies sold over 76 billion prescription opioid pills online WITHOUT any prescription, to be delivered within the US and delivered by the postal service directly to drug abuser’s or drug dealer’s homes! The conflating of this opiod drug abuse with the proper medical use of opioids to treat medical pain was a deliberate ploy by PROP and Kolodney as a money making scheme perpetrated on the backs of suffering chronic pain and cancer patients. Lying because of greed, anti-opioid bias, and inflaming already rampant anti-opioid prejudice is evil and it is harming, torturing and killing innocent suffering patients who are afflicted with serious pain. This cruelty is counterproductive, and it is completely unjustified. PROP members will make millions while medical patients with real severe pain will just be left to suffer endless torture until death so that they die sooner of heart attacks, strokes or suicides. As long as a patient takes their opioids ONLY as prescribed they cannot overdose or become addicted! All chronic pain patients will become physically dependent, but this is expected and is NOT addiction! If these patients ever want to stop taking opioids all they must do is to slowly taper themselves off of these opioids. There is plenty of data to support EVERYTHING that I say here! We must stop attacking and punishing patients and their innocent doctors just because of unwarranted fear of addiction (FOA) and fear of accidental opioid overdose that CANNOT happen as long as opioids are ONLY used as prescribed. We must get the REAL TRUTH out to the public!

I am a pain patient currently bedbound by intractable, physiological pain with known causes--trauma, disease and medical malpractice which left me with neurological damage. I am also a professional health care provider. If I cannot receive the medical treatment I need, as a professional Registered Nurse, a 100% disabled US Army Veteran, and most importantly, a suffering American, I cannot imagine who does these days. The "War on Drugs" is a failure. It feeds innocent people into the garbage bin of for-profit prisons. This bill would do IMMENSE harm and I will never work or vote for anyone, including you, Tammy Baldwin, if they vote in favor of this monstrous bill or any other designed to inflict further harm on people whose only "crime" is being in pain. I have worked on campaigns and been disappointed by candidates since I was FOURTEEN years old, but I will actively work against anyone who votes in favor of pain patient abuse such as this. A huge majority of people do not become addicted to their pain medication. Using your own anecdotal and personal experience with a family member who did succumb to addiction is INEXCUSABLE and UNPROFESSIONAL. The EVIDENCE does not back up this INQUISITION against people in pain.

I can’t believe we are living in a world where having chronic pain is punished. I have constant pain 24/7 7 days a week. I have been a pain patient for years. I have not misused medicine either. I have been forced to go down on my medicine because of the CDC guidelines that were set. Opioids were not the first meds that were given to me. They are the meds that work for me. I do not have the same quality of life I once had before all this tapering. My illness are degenerative, that means they get WORSE. Why are we made to feel like common criminals because CPP need to take medicine that helps? Why are we being punished for living in pain? Nobody asked for a life in pain. This is what life dealt us. To even think that I could live without any medicine is ridiculous and totally inhumane. I am not apart of abuse. I am not misusing medicine. If a Tylenol would work then I wouldn’t be on this platform trying to let you know that unless you feel the constant pain how can anyone judge our pain? Say take Tylenol? If only it was that simple. It’s not. I’m 49 years old. I’ve had Chronic pancreatitis since age 16. I have been on non narcotics and if they worked then I wouldn’t be in need of anything else. Why are we being persecuted for pain? What kind of world are we living? Where we let chronic pain patients literally suffer or committ suicide because of poor pain control or cut off completely? Is this hell? Who decides what kind of life a pain patient should be allowed to have? Nobody is God,here on earth nor should it be the governments right to play God. God help the pain patients, God help me. I pray that you realize people are all different. CPP need pain meds period! We’re talking about living a life suffering that’s what is going to happen if you don’t stop putting us in the same catergory’s as the illegal drugs epidemic. I only listed one of my chronic illnesses I did not want to go into great detail but if it will help you understand that CPP exist and are the ones suffering by this then I’ll write another letter and then on and on and on. How ever many letters it takes to convince that we are being done so wrong. It’s inhumane and more and more people are feeling like there is no hope and nobody can live in severe pain. If this was a family member or someone you love and care about. How can anyone allow someone who you know is legitimately in pain to suffer? Then say it’s all in the name of a opioid epidemic. That is so wrong on every level. Please stop catergorizing pain patients with drug abuse. Any true pain patient knows the only way to fight the pain is to make sure you have medicine to fight it with. Everyone is not a drug addict. You are characterizing everyone into one box. That is wrong! What has become of compassion? Why is this all hitting pain patients? Who can’t even work because of the pain. I have constant pain and what helps me is my medicine. If that is taken away then your taking my life away. Doctors are not all bad. They take a oath to do no harm. I’m just wondering when the Politicians became doctors. I didn’t realize that Politics had anything to do with practicing medicine or treating patients.

What is our lawmakers doung to INNOCENT LAW ABIDING CHRONICALLY ILL CITIZENS/VETS?! DENIAL of LIFESAVING PAIN MEDICATION IS CRUEL INHUMANE AND TORTURE! Putting a label on pain MEDICATION not to be used for chronic pain is HORRIFIC to MILLIONS of us intractable pain sufferers who live with debilitating incurable diseases that cause severe pain 24/7...what would you like us to do???? Meditate, yoga, acupuncture?? Give me a break! 20 years Ive been battling a war within my body, have been put thru every alternative therapy MY BODY could take and left me thousands in debt, was put on every non opioid medication that gave me horrible side effects and did nothing for the pain! Pain MEDICATION was my LAST RESORT and once my dr at the time found what worked for me, I finally had a quality of life!! 8 years SAME STABLE HIGH DOSE, I am a rapid metabolizer and require higher doses in order to sustain a quality of life. Then in steps the CDC, PROP with thier lies, the FDA, DEA, LAWMAKERS, all of which have corruption running thru them, my doctor of ten years ABANDONED ME! Handed me my last scripts that he cut way back and sent me on my way, Told me his license was more important than treating pain pts. !! I have been treated like a pill seeking druggie looking for a high by drs offices that never met me or reviewed my decades worth of medical records! I have been degraded, stigmatized, turned away with nowhere to go! WHERE'S THE HELP?! ILLEGAL DRUGS IS THE PROBLEM NOT LEGALLY RX'D #LIFESAVINGPAINMEDS! This bill will cause the suicide rate to skyrocket even faster than it is now. DENIAL OF #LIFESAVINGPAINMEDS IS #TORTURE #INHUMANE #BARBARIC #CRUEL #GENOCIDE #VIOLATIONOFANATION #OPIOIDHYSTERIA #OPIOIDSAREVITAL #DONTPUNISHPAIN #CDCLIES #STARBURST

Again, I ask, what is the point? if you aren't going to let people have opiods in the first place, what difference does it make what they are called or what ingredients are in them or if you get rid of one to make another? Americans need to be protected from a dangerous group of know it alls who apparently know nothing about the pain crisis in America and apparently have no personal experience at all to bring to the table. Put that bill up for discussion, why don't you? And here I am expected to offer tylenol to patients with every kind of pain. Instead of talking to each other, get out there and talk to patients, doctors, nurses which are people you should be getting input from.

Beyond the political hysteria and media-pushed lies of 'everyone gets addicted' fear mongering, beyond the persecution of patients to 'help' addicts of illegal substances of all types, from meth to cocaine to ecstasy to wasp spray......there is an underlying layer of corruption. The intentions of this bill ignore the reality of application. This will be usex to destroy generics. People like Heather Reash, the architect of EpiPen scandal, daughter of Senator Joe Manchin WV, is rebooting an old NSAIDS drug Mobic waiting for this bill to pass. ..... Joe is noted in the disability community as fighting his own AG to spend settlement money on a helicopter. Not allowed. Demon- spawn daughter to the rescue, just need that bill to get the gravy train rolling again......this bill should be renamed.......The DrugCopter Joe Profit Graft And Patent Games Act.

This Bill will serve no one except possibly the manufacturers of the drug. EVERYONE is different and responds to medication differently. Since this statement is scientifically proven if a new medication is added that’s great, but the older medications are still needed for some.
