Do the Feds Need New Tools to Prosecute International Drug Dealers?
Argument in favor
Current law makes it difficult for federal law enforcement to prosecute drug dealers that make drugs in foreign countries and distribute them in the U.S. through other groups. This bill fixes that and adds penalties for internationally trafficking substances used to make meth.

Of course the war on drugs is a disaster and the reasonable way to address drug addictions is through preventive education, rehabilitation, controlled distribution, research, and for some,such as marihuana, legalization. HOWEVER, this law is not about that. This law would not pour more resources into a wasteful war, rather it will give federal prosecutors the ability to charge traffickers outside of our borders. If legalization is going to work, we would still need to control the influx of illegal narcotics.

Let's get a comprehensive plan to bring Hillary and other criminals at home to justice. We need an easier process for our crooked politicians

This change in law won’t lead to a significant increase in the number of prosecutions against international drug trafficking organizations. Drug dealers will simply find a different workaround to avoid being tried and convicted in U.S. courts.

Laugh out loud. More US Laws will not affect foreign countries or drug lords. However, I could support Laws against countries who support or ignore drug lords within their country. Just cut off aid or support - no U$ Dollars. Money talks!

We need to end the war on drugs. When a significant portion of our prison system is dedicated to non-violent drug offenders, you know that we have a problem. The drug war is having the same effect as the alcohol prohibition. Individuals should also have control over what they put into their own bodies. Instead of criminalizing drug use, we should educate people about drug use and allow private organizations to provide rehabilitation services for drug addicts.

If the Feds refuse to use the "tools" they ALREADY have, what is the point of giving them new tools? It sounds like a pretext for more government bureaucracy and more government spending. We've got an OPEN BORDERS PROBLEM, folks! We've got drug smugglers and terrorists coming and going at will! WHY???! BECAUSE THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION REFUSES TO ENFORCE OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS AND SUPPORTS THE SANCTUARY CITIES THAT ILLEGAL ALIEN CRIMINALS EXPLOIT. And don't forget that the Rockefeller family, George Soros, and other open borders advocates such as PAUL RYAN are partly responsible for the drug overdose epidemic in America. And let's not forget the sex trafficking, murders, rapes, gang wars, robberies, etc. that are part and parcel of our open borders problem! Remember Kate Steinle???! And the countless other victims of the illegal alien invasion?! Just ask yourself WHY THE GOVERNMENT HASN'T SECURED OUR BORDERS! DAVID ROCKEFELLER SAID THAT ALL THAT WAS NEEDED WAS THE RIGHT CRISIS AND AMERICANS WOULD ACCEPT THE NEW WORLD ORDER! Do you understand the implications of that?! More warm and fuzzy legislation. This Bill does absolutely nothing. Enforce the laws on the books.

Prohibition of substances simply because one agency or another says it should; stigmatizes that substance & pushes all of it's components "underground"! The only thing we fuel by making more laws is to indulge the growth of black market dealers! Everything from mules & prostitution for drugs to high end pharmaceutical industry sales!
More laws to prosecute won't help. The only way to beat international drug dealers to legalize all drugs, regulate them through the free market and decriminalize use. This dismantles the black market trade and allows help to those who fear to seek it because of prison sentences.

This issue should not have any more money put into it. If the drugs cross the border, then that's a problem. If they don't, then America should put deal with it.
No. What is truly needed is better enforcement of our borders. Drugs come into California, Arizona and Texas by the ton. The Border Patrol is sorely undermanned and agents are frequently assigned to low traffic areas while the cartels have a wide open highway north. Take down the signs warning Americans of the dangers of drug smugglers in our country and man the borders effectively. Personally, I'm suspicious of why we have deliberate lax enforcement to prevent drug smuggling. Cartel money is everywhere in Mexico and most likely in high government places in this country. I don't trust our current government with border security.
Makes sense to do this. The opposing argument that the drug dealers will just find another way is ridiculous. I then ask what is the solution.... Ignore it and it will go away?
Drug use is an epidemic I do not care if this makes government larger this needs to stop now. What kind of person votes no on legislation to address the problem of drug use.
Prohibition didn't work, when will the federal government learn they aren't the ones to be regulating this? This should be at city/state level.
Drugs are a plague on our society and must be dealt with by any means necessary.
