An unqualified, unknowledgeable, in-curious, stubborn reality show star making decisions that harm us all from thinking appropriate to the 17 and 1800s should be overridden by Congress. That’s why we have Checks and Balances, which he is also attempting to end. Motivated only by notoriety and personal profit, his decisions tend to be profoundly irrational and destructive. The GOP is largely abandoning its principles, it’s job, and its mandate for short term gain.The vote is more important than ever before. We must return to being a country that cares for each other, provides the basics for all of us, and shows compassion for all—not a macho, saber-rattling, bullying, isolationist oligarchy.

The Trump administration’s tariffs are primarily aimed at protecting American steel and aluminum industries from China’s abusive trade practices, and responsibly exempt key U.S. allies.

At first I thought a trade war would be one of the worst things that America could get into, but now I see Trump is negotiating with China and other countries reducing the amount of imports so that the threat of tariffs seems to be working in our favor.

They sold us back the steel from the WTC after they reprocessed it. They flood a lot of markets with cheap steel due to their inhumane treatment of workers and questionable manufacturing practices. Tariffs are a small signal we can send to say enough is enough with the unbalanced trade agreements.

I’m not a fan of tariffs, but Trump seems to have a plan and I would like to see the master negotiator do his work. Any republican who tries to obstruct the president needs to lose his job.

    Why would anyone who cares about the American steel and aluminum workers want to harm their jobs and their ability to make a decent wage? This kind of legislation is favoring our enemies Russia and Communist China. Who would put forward such legislation? That person is committing treason and must resign their Seat in Congress.

    Not only Republicans, but also Democrats need to get behind the Presidents Tariff plans allowing Americans to “Buy USA” instead of cheaper made foreign products, and also maintaining Or increasing American,employment numbers.

    Absolutely! Trump’s version of US manufacturing is antiquated. He thinks we can produce enough internally to meet all US demand for steel products. That is incorrect by a wide margin. Yes, the tariffs will increase US steel employment marginally, but that will not offset the larger losses of jobs in steel consuming industries who will be forced to lay off due to rising costs, and diminishing demand.

    It is up to Congress to regulate commerce, that I do not deny. However, the United States has been in a trade deficit with China for a long time, especially after Clinton’s administration with Walmart and China. Companies have gone quickly under since then because of the cheaper products and lower grade material. The US steel industry needs the support from Congress to strengthen our trade output and put American products back on the domestic market. Whatever happened to “made in the USA”???
