senate Bill S. 220

Allowing Health Care Providers to Opt-Out of Abortions

Argument in favor

Ensures that healthcare providers have the legal right to not perform or cover the cost of abortions if it conflicts with their personal or religious beliefs. This bill protects healthcare providers from violating their consciences.

Argument opposed

This bill is redundant; federal funds are already heavily restricted from going toward abortion services, and healthcare providers already have the right to not offer abortion services. This bill addresses a nonexistent problem.

If a person or organization feels that covering abortions goes against their conscience, then they should not be forced to cover it.

This is a religious issue, not a governmental issue. Unless and until we become a Theocracy... Government should keep its nose out of the issue and get back to the non-religious work you were hired to do. You are only abetting the radicals and dragging all of us into a religious argument. That is specifically NOT your job!

Medical professionals should do their job. If a doctor converts to Jehovah witness, shouldn't he still perform blood transfusions that may save a life? Otherwise, find a new profession.

ABORTION IS MURDER!!! No one has the God given right to force you to be part of slicing, dicing, shredding, stabbing scissor's up the back of a head/skull & then scramble-up the brains, and acid-bath a REAL LIVE BABY! The cherry-on-the-cake is when a special "order" can be placed for a specific, preserved & deceased BABY BODY PARTS! How many do you want? GOT'EM! All purchased, and delivered to a doorstep!

As a future healthcare provider I am studying this profession to help people. I would also like my rights respected and not be coerced to participate in activities that make me uncomfortable.

Abortion and murder are terms to me that are identical in meaning. Murder and abortion are both the execution of innocent victims who are unable to protect themselves. Therefore I think that those doctors who commit abortion are murderers.

Health care providers should be able to have their freedom of turning abortions away. They should not be forced to kill a child.

This is a no brainer. Of course health providers should not be forced to commit abortions! This is not baking a cake! It is killing a life! People should not be forced to bake cakes either. Just as they should not be forced to perform for anyone's inauguration.
