senate Bill S. 2082

Extending Expiring Provisions at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs

Argument in favor

America’s veterans can’t afford a lapse in the services the VA provides them. Passing this bill is essential to ensure they receive the care they need.

They need to be permanent. Let's pretend it's something for congressional members. Vets would receive the so called Cadillac plan faster than the Clintons can grab money for their foundation.

In my opinion and from what I had observed & learned as a veteran, the VA needs a major upgrade in their policies & in veterans care.

Argument opposed

Congress shouldn’t vote on a blanket reauthorization of these VA authorities, and instead ought to go through each program on its own merits.

Just pass out health care cards to all veterans and close the VA. The VA failed. Great conception, but Government will always fail within a set budget.

I think giving vets a government health care card and letting them go where they wish for health care is the way to go. Close the VA and save tons of money in administration cost.

How can this even be a question? For the sake of all national honor & reason, do it NOW! We have treated our veterans so shamefully it is an embarrassment to the entire country. Stop nickeling & dining the men & women who fought for a lie perpetrated by the executive branch. How can any of you fools look yourselves in the eye with your war mongering desire to send MORE people to fight (you do know that is what 'boots on the ground' means?) while you refuse to pay for the promised benefits to veterans? If you guys want more war either you go fight or send your precious children. No Americans should ever go into another battle until you figure out how to take care of our veterans!

I wish our representatives in Texas weren't heartless stooges who didn't care what was best for the people. Wouldn't that be nice?

I'm open to a more efficient and effect way to take care of our veterans, but until an acceptable solution is made, Congress should vote yes to this bill

Get rid of the VA. They are nothing but paper pushing collect pay checks. I don't know why getting an appointment was no problem until O. Now it's impossible. They don't even return 18 months of phone calls.

The VA and its hospitals, as evidenced by ours in Grand Junction, CO, are politically maneuvered and, therefore, capriciously (dis-)organized. Terminate the VA hospitals, let vets use their IDs to get the healthcare they need and deserve. Tax dollars for running the programs vets need should go directly to state governments. The federal government is one giant miasma of incompetence.
