senate Bill S. 167

Designating an Existing Memorial as the “National Memorial to Fallen Educators”

Argument in favor

Honoring fallen educators by designating an existing memorial at the National Teacher Hall of Fame as the “National Memorial to Fallen Educators” without expense to the taxpayer is a simple but meaningful gesture.

We should, and let it stand as a reminder of our horrible inaction on a serious problem. Let it be a reminder to us how many people died as a result of us looking on and doing nothing.

What is a Fallen Educator? I’m a disabled decorated Vet and never heard the term! Were they attacked by students and killed?

Argument opposed

The federal government should spend money building a new memorial with taxpayer funds that’s dedicated to fallen educators. Alternatively, the memorial shouldn’t be designated as the national memorial.

If you want a memorial to “fallen” teachers pass real gun control. You sanctimonious hypocrites get all humble and prayer-filled but won’t do a damn thing to really show a support and respect for life. You are the reason teachers “fall”! Do something to stop it!

How about instead of building some half assed memorial, you pay homage to their memories by making sure that what happened to them never happens to anyone else in schools? How about some goddamn gun control? How about you stop sitting around on your cowardly asses and do the hard thing and fix a problem? How about that...

More liberal idiots talking about banning “assault weapons” and “sensible gun control”. Must we remind you that these teachers were killed as a result of your gun free zones.

No disrespect to teachers. I have many teachers in my family. I just don’t understand with so many pressing issues Congress should be voting on, having a memorial to fallen teachers is not crucial to our society and our citizens wellbeing today. Ie: reasonable gun laws?????

If educators/indoctrinaters didn't work in gun free zones, they wouldn't be falling.

How about a memorial to living educators in the form of fully funded schools, fair pay, and real gun control?

A bill to make Congress feel better as if they were doing something real...How about CONGRESS instead LOOK to PREVENTING more educators and STUDENTS form becoming MEMBERS of the FALLEN. GOING to school should not be in the same category as going to war & honoring our ‘fallen educators’ only shows how under-regarded this problem is.

Do something about guns. Do something about magazine capacity. Do something about point of purchase lope holes. Congress do something so we won’t need memorials.

I don’t want to waste tax payer money on a memorial when we should be spending it on gun reform.

IF YOU REALLY WANT TO HONOR TEACHERS WHO DIED DEFENDING THEIR STUDENTS, THEN TAKE SERIOUS STEPS TO ENSURE IT DOESN’T HAPPEN. Secure the schools! Gun control & gun free zones is stupid. It doesn’t deter nutcases from doing evil. If gun control worked politicians would depend solely on it to defend their asses, but they don’t. They have armed security. The left doesn’t want to solve the problem because they only want to discuss one so called “solution”. Gun control! Well, the rest of us do want a solution, and I want to go with what has proven time again to work. DETERRENCE!

I'm an educator. I don't want a memorial if I get gunned down at work. I want better gun control laws now so my job isn't so high-risk. Increase our pay, return our benefits, lower our classroom sizes, and keep guns like the AR out of the hands of civilians. I'd rather have a better life than an honored death.
