senate Bill S. 147

Authorizing the Keystone XL Pipeline

Argument in favor

Building the Keystone XL will generate thousands of jobs in the U.S., strengthen the country’s domestic energy supply, and potentially draw in billions of investment dollars.

Argument opposed

Keystone XL will transport tar sand oils— and extremely harmful fossil fuel—across thousands of miles of American soil, where a single spill could hurt scores of ecosystems, watersheds, and people.

DO NOT PASS THIS! This could and most likely would leak at some future time and has the potential of poisoning all of the drinking water for the middle U.S. Just look at Santa Barbara California. SAME PEOPLE - SAME RESULTS!

Focus more on green energy. Honor the treaties America has with Native peoples, respect their sovereignty and quit building these projects on or NEAR Tribal LAND. There have been hundreds upon hundreds of contamination spills from these projects that never get cleaned up completely and poison the people and wildlife. We are tired of this, let's work towards a cleaner and less money hungry future.

Water is life! We have already taken enough from the native people. Our focus should be on clean energy instead

I do not support this or Dakota pipeline due to environmental issues it will cause. Treatment of the Natives is appalling

Green energy industries would create many more LONG term jobs, reduce our dependence on foreign oil AND make us competitive in a growing global marketplace.

Leaking oil pipes, increased earthquakes, 36 permanent jobs, several of the many reasons why Keystone needs to be rejected.

We need to start taking more steps to improving our environment and prevent climate change. An increase in jobs will not matter if we do not have a planet to live on.

This is about our own security and complete energy independence! Also the keystone pipeline as it is Canadian owned and operated in order to send their oil to the gold will guarantee hundreds of thousands of American jobs! It will be safe! It is about our future as North American Republics!

Human rights and tribal pacts are being violated. There is conflict of interest, where President Trump is heavily invested. Furthermore, Sunoco logistics bought out Exxon/Mobile, so Tillerson also has conflict of interest. I heard that one reason for doing this is to create American jobs. It's not as easy as this, however. First, there needs to be education, which the employee would have to pay for. Second, the question arises as to how much we are willing to give up to produce this for another country. Water IS life, and Flint is still suffering. Pipelines explode and kill the environment and habitat that Americans thrive upon. The costs of cleanup are just as important to consider, and projecting these numbers into the future - well, Americans would be spending enormous amounts of time and expense on this subject. Stop DAPL. Look into better options. They are out there and can still make us money and make America even better as a Nation.
