Congress should stop wasting time on meaningless resolutions. Words will not actually do anything to help those suffering in Ecuador.

No congress should not send condolences, they should be asking how can we help. Do you need our military to help with civil engineers, medics, helicopters, or supplies of food, medical, clothing and temporary shelters. Words are worthless, if you have never been through a tragedy, then you wouldn't understand and would just you were sorry. Put your money or physical help where your mouth is.

The President has offered condolences for our nation. Congress needs to stop spending time on resolutions like this and actually DO its job! Figure out a way to work together and actually pass some laws for the good of the Average American and not just their Corporate Owners!

This is so stupid. Individual politicians can send a letter if so inclined. Quit wasting time and money on empty gestures.
Honestly, you people are hopeless. President Obama and SoS Kerry have done this. Authorize aid.
Actions speak louder than words; give President authority to send aid via an emergency appropriation.
The President can, and did, offer condolences. There's absolutely no reason for congress to waste time like this.

What is the point of this! Stop wasting our time and deal with the real issues in our country.
I don't understand why this sort of time wasting exercise is constantly necessary! Do some kind of blanket "we are sorry for your loss" & let the Speaker rubber stamp it every time reality hits. Do something useful instead of wasting the nation's $$$ on housekeeping chores.

Ok, so let me get this straight, why would we be asking permission to express condolences to a country for a catastrophic natural disaster they have experienced? I find there to be no harm in that. Now, if you are questioning whether we should invest huge sums of money towards this country in order for them to recover, then we would be discussing a whole different situation and therefore would require votes and resolutions in which to decide on what path we would take for these people.
Congresses time needed to be focused on cutting cost and finding jobs for americans
