Suing the President

Argument in favor

This would send a strong and necessary message to President Obama and future presidents that they cannot overstep their executive power.

Is the president not a citizen? Is now he a king, a dictator? America, the land of the free, is a nation for the people and by the people; we are not to be ruled by the dictates of pretentious politicians who think themselves wiser than the rest of us.

Suing wouldn't be as necessary as a trial for espionage (funding Syrian rebels and ISIS) and manslaughter (Benghazi). Both of which a court of law would have no problem finding him guilty.

Presidents should not have immunity from rights nor requirements as set forth in the Constitution. We are not a lawless dictatorship, we are an accountable democracy. Our President is accountable for his actions.

Argument opposed

Why are lawmakers wasting taxpayer dollars and valuable time on suing Obama? Literally every president uses executive power.

Maybe Congress should worry about doing their own jobs instead of going after Obama for taking action that they refuse to do. This is obviously party politics where the GOP insists on punishing a democrat for show instead of working toward change like their constituents need.

The Congress doesn't have to sue the President. Just use your existing power! Withhold funding for his pet projects and he will eventually acquiesce. Take a stand for once instead of crying to the Courts.

The president has every right to use his executive power as every president does. Suing them for doing so is pointless, we should be more concerned on how we can allocate government funds elsewhere to programs that actually need it rather than wasting it on a frivolous law suit. We need to move forward and be more progressive, not dwell on the past and criticize our elected leader for a decision he felt was best.

President Obama's use of executive action is both historically precedented and necessitated by stalemate in Congress.

Waste of taxpayers money. Can we go back and focus on more important things like education and infrastructure?

This is a waste of time and money, there are higher authorities regulating the president than individual prosecutors.

I am so frustrated with the constant law suits every time someone doesn't get their way. If you don't like the president elect someone else. Enough with these temper tantrums.

Taxpayers' money should be spent on something useful other than a wasteful lawsuit based on a group's opinion.

Come on: let's stop posturing as if Obama has done anything any more atrocious than any other nationally influential politician. The senate is on a witch hunt because there's a black man in office and will do anything-including an absurd waste of time and resources- to character assassinate him.

This is an absolute waste of time and if congress would actual accomplish something, then the President wouldn't enforce agenda through the use of executive orders.
