house Bill H. Res. 524

Condemning the Terrorist Attacks on Paris, France

Argument in favor

America needs to stand beside France, our country’s oldest ally, in the aftermath of these attacks and offer whatever support can be provided in stopping ISIS. This resolution opens the door for future action.

While I recognize this represents more talk, this does need to be followed up by action by funding more support to get rid of the threat that is ISIS. Sitting idly by and saying that we have a handle on ISIS is shortsighted and just plain silly.

Argument opposed

Condemning terrorist attacks — even in the “strongest possible terms” — won’t do anything of substance to combat the threat of ISIS. The world needs less talk, and more action from Congress.

It's not that I oppose condemning the terrorist attacks. It's that I'm getting really fucking sick and tired of my elected officials wasting their time and our money on bullshit like this.

We shouldn't condemn what we won't fight. Increasing military action against ISIS tenfold will truly show we care, not just writing a feel-good sentence.
