While there are areas of the U.S.-Mexico relationship that can be improved, Mexico is one of America’s closest partners in terms of economic and security matters. The House should acknowledge that.

Argument opposed
Mexico is obviously a close ally and trading partner, but the House passing this resolution doesn’t do anything to substantively improve that relationship other than offer kind words.

Mr. Engel, the best way to show our allies that the American people want good relationships with them is to impeach Trump. Also please legalize cannabis. You Democrats could do well to jump on the weed wagon. Be the party that makes America healthy again.

Having a strong relationship with a neighboring country can never be a bad thing.
A wall will help both countries. Mexican cartels sell drugs on our streets making them stronger in Mexico due to it. Putting a wall and adding security to stop the drug flow will severely cut off a lot of their income which weakens them and helps Mexico fight the cartels. It’s a win-win.
We as Americans and citizens of a global community need to maintain good relationships with our neighbors and allies. Unfortunately, this administration has shot that to hell. Having the House pass another useless bill to justify their salaries this year is getting old. What the congressmen believe or say can and will be undone by the President in a matter of seconds. If you really want to prove a commitment to our partners, stop enabling Trump and start taking your duty to provide oversight seriously. Anything else is just smoke.
Only problem is we have a president who thinks Mexicans are rapists and wants to build a wall between the two countries. Now, what countries around the world have walls around them to keep out neighboring country citizens? Sadly, this person has quite the following of like-minded bigots hell bent on catapulting us into the Dark Ages.

Yes, of course. The house should also affirm a strong commitment to a partnership with the American Citizens. This could ensure there is no need for a revolution.
Congress should also extend an apology to Mexico for the insensitive remarks made by the current American president.
Mexico is a bordering ally, allowing this relationship to devolve in any way is irresponsible and extremely short-sighted. It sets us up for failure in every way.
We need to reaffirm our partnership with ALL U.S. allies, Mexico among them. The sitting president has done much damage to U.S. diplomatic relationships, our reputation and image, and our commitments to treat other countries with mutual respect and cooperation.
Yes, but if Mexico is such a great ally of ours then don’t build the goddamn wall!
Why waste time, trump will just screw it up. Let action speak for us.
