Should the House Impeach President Donald Trump for ‘Inciting an Insurrection’?

President Donald Trump’s actions and remarks incited a violent, deadly mob that stormed the Capitol and interrupted the certification of the Electoral College results, endangered members of Congress and the vice president, and undermined the peaceful transfer of power. He betrayed his oath of office, is unfit to serve, and must be impeached regardless of how much time is left in his term.

I think a lot of the numb nuts and political opportunists will need to be expelled from the legislature with bipartisan support. I am becoming increasingly hopeful that we will get back to a government of by and for the people because the trump has finally scared the crap enough out of the politics-first people who the trump left at great risk and would not even take their phone calls begging for police backup while crude thugs were basing down office doors and leaving them to fear for their lives - with armed combat going on in the hallway, just a doorway away. They were actually quite lucky that they were not in full session. Finally, I have something to thank the trump for. … … …
The Senate should be convened very soon after the House vote and police protective forces need to be authorized to shoot anyone who breeches doorways and enters government buildings used for our governance. This is serious stuff and requires serious action. Fear of thugs no matter how well organized and equipped cannot be allowed to be a factor, it will only embolden them. Let’s find the unity to shut down these militant insurgents and use this unity to begin repairing all that has been broken.

There is no choice for any patriot but to impeach and remove him from office and restrict him from ever holding office ever again. This person has violated his sworn oath to defend and protect the Constitution by inciting people to overtrow the valid vote of the people. We are witnessing a critical moment in our history when all Legislators need to stand up and defend their democracy and stop thinking only about keeping thier jobs and start defending our Democracy,

This impeachment is nothing more than a partisan attempt to score political points against President Donald Trump in the final days of his term of office. Impeachment detracts from efforts to unite the country at a time when the country is deeply divided. Rushing an impeachment without hearings sets a precedent for the future misuse of one of the most solemn constitutional tools.

President Trump has not incited violence, rather he has put Americans first in their fight for transparent and fair elections. He has agreed to a peaceful transition, and impeachment would likely cause further political divide, which this country already has a lot of.
Gentlemen, what more evidence do you require to know that “domestic tranquility” has been disrupted, and is likely to be for several decades going forward? You have all sat in public office as the hateful and divisive rhetoric was enhanced and endorsed from the top, even supported some of it yourselves. You cannot spew this language from one side of the mouth and “unity” from the other. Unless you are part of the disinformation campaign that has vividly been utilizing Big Tech to spread their word, you must be against it. The bulk of Americans are moderates and entrust the 3 branches of Federal Government to do their jobs to ensure domestic tranquility, and it is evident that you have failed. How long before neighbor is pitted against neighbor? How long before some other country’s version of Fidel Castro or Saddam Hussein is installed in the White House, and like other despots, will not honor our democratic processes and, down the barrel of a gun, end freedom for all in this country?

There can be no healing without accountability. I am counting on you to impeach this president. Lawlessness must never be tolerated in this country. There is only one opportunity to hold the president accountable. Failure to do so will set a precedent that all future presidents can commit whatever crimes they choose while holding the house and senate hostage to get his or her way.

What a complete waste of time! Congress should be working towards balancing our budget and help get our economy going again so people can take care of their families.
I would say it's too late. But, something has to be done to make sure Trump NEVER runs for public office again! And doesn't get to live off of taxpayers' money for the rest of his life!

Since Pence has declined to invoke the 25th the only option left is impeachment unless Trump resigns to avoid being impeached.
The article of impeachment cites “Incitement of Insurrection” providing the option to invoke the 14th should the senate not vote for removal which allows Trump to be prosecuted for Insurrection under the 14th.
Either impeachment or the 14th will prevent Trump from holding office. The 14th is easier than impeachment as it only takes a majority not a super majority (2/3rds) and wouldn’t take up Senate time for a trial. It does however involve the courts after Congress votes for it.
Four Republicans (Katko, Cheney, Kinzinger, Upton) currently support impeachment, and McConnell is considering support as he does not see it as partisan and wants to see the evidence.
It is hard to understand why Pence won’t invoke the 25th which the House passed today (1-12-21) when he had to be evacuated with his wife, daughter and brother because mobs wanted to hang him and Trump didn’t care enough about his well being to even check on his safety.
