house Bill H. Res. 1017

Should the House Ask the Trump Admin to Provide All Transcripts & Documents From the President’s Meeting With Putin?

Argument in favor

The House needs access to all documents, records, transcripts, and notes from the meeting in Helsinki between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

If you have nothing to hide then don’t hide anything. We’ve also never had a president that’s a traitor who willfully flouted all protocols, security, customs, and who couldn’t be trusted to appear at a funeral. It’s a new world everyday.

Do we really have to ask this question? We should demand this information and subpoena the President if necessary. What is the GOP hiding???

Congress and the American people should know what our own President discussed with another foreign leader. Apparently, Republicans don’t believe in transparency. They think that it’s okay for our elected leaders to be making policy in smoke-filled rooms and not discuss any of it with the people that they represent.

Argument opposed

This a petty attempt at embarrassing the president, and what’s more it violates the Constitution’s separation of powers by infringing on the president’s power to conduct diplomacy.

🤔 OUR HYPOCRITICAL DEMOCRATS AT IT AGAIN 😂 I’m in agreement of the party-line, 23-18 vote that the House Foreign Affairs Committee had which rejected an effort by Democrats to ask the White House & State Department to turn over all documents related to President Donald Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Frankly, it’s none of the Democrats darn business of the Presidential dealings with another foreign leader. Did they question Obamas or Clinton’s dealings with their contacts with other nations leaders. Like it or not but, our Progressive Democrats need to “Mind Their Business” and take care care o their own Business...... HELL NO They didn’t..... SneakyPete..... 9*13*18 .....

Absolutely not. This is another attempt to confuse the separation of powers.

No, this would set extremely BAD precedent. A president’s discussions with foreign leaders require candor. Transcripts being provided to the leaking Lenas in Congress would be a horrific blow to diplomatic efforts. Not only no, hell no.

Trumps meeting alone with Putin is either the dumbest political move in history or proof he's a traitor. We need to know

Of course congress needs to know what Trump agreed to when he met with Putin. Trump lies to much to believe a word he says , so they need the documents

Pres. Trump has repeatedly shown himself to be untrustworthy. I do not see Congress stepping up and being the check and balance for the Executive branch. We need Transparency! We need to know what our President is doing/saying in our name. COUNTRY above party!!!!

It astounds me, after all the FACTS have been surfacing with his involvement with Russia, HIS BASE STILL SUPPORTS HIM. I believe Putin has Trump in the palm of his hand. Trump has been supporting a relationship since taking office. So BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. He was probably thanking Putin for helping him win ILLEGALLY!

Absolutely, unequivocally, He does not have the right to treat those talks as private especially given his penchant for and the show immediately after those same talks of his adoration of Putin. Anyone who would consider having Russia question our security and law enforcement personnel cannot be trusted.

Of course. This is a public office and the man sitting in it is determined to undermine everything that used to make our country great. We must know what happened in this meeting.

His isn’t an autocracy. Based on our Presidents’ bizarre behavior and approach to Russia, Congress and the American people need to know what he has discussed in the one on one meetings with world leaders and whether or not he is operating in accordance with his Oath of Office.
