house Bill H.R. 925

House Democrats’ $2.2 Trillion Bill to Provide Economic Stimulus, Unemployment Benefits, Election Reforms, and Aid to State & Local Gov’ts

Argument in favor

This bold package reflects the priorities of House Democrats by providing additional economic stimulus to working people across the country, rewarding essential workers with hazard pay, extending unemployment benefits, helping state & local governments deal with shortfalls from the pandemic, and reforming elections to ensure they can be held safely in the future. At a minimum, it demonstrates Democrats’ willingness to try to meet in the middle by shrinking their $3.4 trillion HEROES Act to this $2.2 trillion version of the bill.

The most effective way of preventing a devastating recession/depression is to provide effective stimulus funding to those most likely to immediately to spend those funds because they need to; this stimulates economic consumption and provides a textbook Keynesian stimulus. The FED has warned that without effective stimulus funding our country runs the risk of entering a very costly and severe recession or possibly a prolonged world wide depression as our country’s economic stupidity strongly impacts the world’s economy. Giving more funds to corporations does little to stimulate the economy because there is no great incentive for them to spend - and does little to stimulate economic consumption. The overt greed of the trumpublicans party to not support those in need while diverting tax payer debt to the wealthy and large corporations is profoundly stupid and does nothing to bolster the economy. My god, will you damned trumpublican Senators get a staffer to buy you an ‘economics for dummies’ primer and have them explain it to you. You cannot prime the economy by sending legions of surfs to indemnified workplaces as insignificant lumps of coal to fuel your economic engine without first repairing your economic engine, by holding your out of control pandemic in check. Get your f’ing priorities straight for once!

Covers all parties affected by Covid-19 (individuals, hospitals, labs, schools, small business, state and local government, etc). A good basis for negotiation on the dollars in each bucket. Would have preferred to see bipartisan sponsorship. Now if the Senate will bring it to the floor and seriously negotiate the $$$!

Argument opposed

By considering this bill, House Democrats have wasted valuable floor time on a $2.2 trillion partisan wish list that has no chance of becoming law instead of working to draft something in a bipartisan fashion. Things like tax cuts for the wealthy in high-tax states and permanent federal election reforms have no business being included in a pandemic recovery package. It’s an insult to the millions of Americans put out of work by the pandemic to send recovery checks to unauthorized immigrants & give them a temporary work authorization.

When will those Dummycrats learn the American people aren’t stupid. Election reform or bailing out states or cities who have failed to operate properly don’t belong in a COVID-19 assistances funding bill. Keep that stupid shit out of the bill. They’re just playing politics with people’s lives.

We should not be usurping our democratic process with this bill with the various voting stipulations nor do we need to add 2 trillion dollars to our deficit and further deflate the dollar and put Americans in a more precarious situation than you’ve already put them in with these draconian lock downs! Just pass a damn bill that helps those who you are directly hurting by taking their ability to make a living away! Give some money to those who YOU refuse to let work! Add a provision that it is ILLEGAL to prevent someone who wants to work or have their business opened as usual! ALLOW people to take care of themselves instead of preventing them with your fascist policies! And stop manipulating the economy with your unwarranted and unconstitutional controls and bail outs! It is NOT the taxpayers job to pay for your inability to manage a budget nor is it within the purview of government to redistribute wealth and property! It’s unlawful!

And like everything else this will sit in the Senate. GOP is the party of treason, corruption and obstructionism They are now the party of Putin, they are not even trying to keep it quiet. The Republican Party in PA has formed an Integrity Panel ( they must have a sense of humor using the word integrity) to obstruct voting in PA and this is an in your face attempt to steal the election. Toomey is just another Putin puppet and up to his eyeballs in dirty money. The pitchforks are coming for you Toomey

The surest way to benefit the people is to Pass the stimulus bill, give the people the money to support local businesses and let them determine which businesses they really want to support. Trickle down economics has proven to be problematic at best let’s try giving the money to the people and letting them determine which businesses they want to survive.

The non wealthy are being hammered by the COVID 19 situation and they need relief yesterday. The billions in profits the rich have reaped in the stock market need to be taxed to support even more generous bills. The GOP needs to start acting like responsible Americans and not the servants of the Oligarchy.
