Do Federal Agencies Need A More Comprehensive Plan For Protecting Critical Infrastructure?

Argument in favor

There is a vital need to protect critical infrastructure from physical and cyber threats, especially those which could adversely impact day-to-day life in America. This bill ensures a plan is in place in the event that those systems are threatened.

Looking at the trial runs of terrorist activities in San Jose does suggest our grid and our fiber optic information system channels are being targeted.

Argument opposed

It seems unlikely that all federal agencies would have the competence to not only administer their regular duties, but also take on responsibilities for physical and cyber security. Risk management plans do not work in unpredictable environments.

Listen this is a law that will and can infringe upon many of your rights plus the taxpayer dollars that will be poured into this will be unbelievable. Corporations have made billions of profits and it's now a time to update the system so why not put it on the backs of the taxpayers! You can live without electricity, water and gas! History proves that. Preparing for it is the responsibility of every individual and not that of the government. If the government wants to do anything then they should make it where you are less dependent upon corporations and more self reliant to support yourself or your family in time of emergency!

What a pathetic joke! "Create something to improve the government's awareness of how well protected both physical and cyber infrastructure is in near-real time." That is the best the genius' in Washington can come up with? You can't put a little thought and indicate what "something" is?

Well, they nay votes seem to believe that government incompetence is the rule. But that's only true in places like Flint Michigan , or West Virginia, when republican led governments intentionally sabotage it. New York City has wonderful water, by the way, cause even our "republicans" aren't morons.
