The National Security Council was created in 1947 by the National Security Act. The intent was to ensure coordination and concurrence among the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and other instruments of national security policy such as the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), also created in the National Security Act. This is no place for a civilian political activist to insert his/her influence. To demote the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Director of Intelligence to "as needed" status and promote political activist, Bannon to an Assigned seat on the principals committee is irresponsible and dangerous. Bannon, a mere civilian, was not approved by Congress to have influence on national security and the Joint military and Intelligence are both necessary as permanent members on the principals committee.

I'm very uncomfortable with political agendas influencing the National Security Council. The placement of Steven Bannon on the Council as a permanent member is highly disturbing to me as a citizen. I ask my senators to vote "yay" on this bill. Thank you.

The whole idea of a national security council is a nonpartisan group of people protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens so that people like Bannon cannot be put into positions of incredible power. I also think the scope of the council should be limited so that assassination is not one of the options that can be implemented against US citizens or others.

The NSC should be about national security not political agendas. Protection of the nation requires military and intelligence efforts not political maneuvering like we have seen by POTUS and Bannon.

Steve Bannon is a white supremacist and anti-Semite who has stated his intention to destroy the state and is responsible for spreading dangerously false information on the internet. He was never confirmed by the Senate and therefore should not hold any place on the NSC. He has an agenda that has no place on the National Security Council and this bill NEEDS to pass to ensure our democracy isn't jeopardized further by his bigotry.

Steve Bannon should not have a seat on the National Security Council. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Directir of National Intelligence certainly should. This reorg is highly suspect and dangerous.

The decisions made by the National Security Council should be made in the interests of our safety and should not be swayed by political motivations.

We don't want politics intruding on the NSC. I haven't seen the full text of the proposed bill yet, but this is a wonderful idea.

Steve Bannon should not have a seat on the National Security Council. A political strategist does not belong in the NSC. The NSC must be composed of only cabinet members and other department heads that are appointed with the consent of the Senate. I support this bill and thank Rep. Stephanie Murphy for sponsoring this bill.

This is an arena for experts on national and international policy and history. They should have a right to discussion and analysis without political conflict. They need this for the progress of honest and open analysis.

If ever there was a time to support this bill it is now! The voting record on this one will be very important to Indiana voters

National security is a non-partisan issue, and should not be placed in the hands of any individual whose primary role is political.
