This sounds like a good idea since it's a historic roadway. I noticed a lot of posts suggesting an infrastructure program to rebuild roads and bridges. What happened to the 800B infrastructure plan under President Obama? Most of it went to Federal Workers unions and Teachers Unions instead of repairs and construction, which is why our roads are in disrepair.

Rt 66 is a National Treasure.

When I was in the service in the fifties I used to drive this route from Indiana to California Most of the route was two lanes. Forty years later I was surprised and saddened at how it had deteriorated when I drove across country in the nineties. Please preserve this historic route, and bring back the Burma Shave signs that dotted the landscape!

Just more low hanging fruit symbolic Congressional feel good nonsense. Nobody minds if you make some Highway a historic site. Let’s upgrade and modernize our entire crumbling infrastructure and implement high speed rail coast to coast in several places not just one. Our bridges and infrastructure are caving in - meanwhile, the fastest rail transportation is all in what China, Japan, Europe. Quit dinking around trying to divide people and do something that matters and helps everyone. Oh, wait divisions get you re-elected what was I thinking - never mind. 🙄

If anything is iconic in our country, THIS is!!

For people who travel along the route; they already know the historical significance of the road. People do make a living serving same. Yes infrastructure upkeep is in need so why can't this be a part of it all.
