house Bill H.R. 7059

Should $23 Billion Go to Building the Border Wall and Other Immigration Enforcement Infrastructure?

Argument in favor

For too long, Congress has neglected the security of the Southern border and allowed immigration laws to incentivize illegal immigration. This bill provides full funding for the border wall, funds facilities to detain unauthorized immigrants while their legal claims are processed, and discourage sanctuary cities from releasing dangerous criminals.

2,600 illegals are being CAUGHT every week. That means three times that are coming in. Reform legal immigration and lock down our borders.

Illegal immigration cost taxpayers roughly 113 BILLION dollars every single year. In the long run, the wall will save more money meaning that the money could go toward other things or not be spent at all. I’m all for the building of the wall. It secures our borders AND saves money!

Argument opposed

The U.S. should be trying to build on its legacy as welcoming beacon for immigration, not spending $23 billion to build President Trump’s border wall that panders to fear. Sanctuary cities and states shouldn’t face being cut off from federal law enforcement or counterterrorism grants because they don’t cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.

The wall is nothing more than a vanity structure for Trump. How about giving $23B to beefing up our infrastructure, education and veterans affairs. Oh yes, and healthcare.

A boarder-wall is pointless, ineffective and anything but fiscally conservative. Please find ways to stop illegal migration into the US, possibly by making legal migration more streamlined.

Sigh. No. How about it goes to healthcare for all instead so our families and children can thrive while complaining about those terrible immigrants? Can’t complain if you croak.

You idiots supporting a wall are crazy. It’s 2024 miles straight across so say another 1500 in twists and turns. The wall he’s proposing is half that length. Plus there’s water on both sides and they burrow tunnels under. Huge waste of tax payer dollars, and even if they do build it the terrorists will come down from Canada or across the Gulf of Mexico into Texas and Florida. We need to shore up American bridges, and the transportation industry before worrying about a mom and her starving children trying to get to the “land of opportunity “

No. Come back to us with a bill on comprehensive immigration reform that includes increased funding for immigration courts and a path to citizenship for Dreamers, then we can talk.

For that you could easily spend a million dollars in every state to treat hunger, homelessness, poverty, addiction. But I’m guessing that won’t happen because in the US everything is about making profit. Jesus weeps.

The wall will prevent Emigration. Not immigration. Research Circular Flow and you will understand that this week keep people who enter our country legally from leaving when their Visa’s expire. (This outcome accounts for the majority of immigrants as is. Most illegals simply over stay their Visa’s)

Securing our borders against “ILLEGAL” again I stress “ILLEGAL” Immigrants is vital to protecting our Citizens and way of life. There is no nation on earth that simply lets in illegal immigrants then gives them access to TAX PAYER PROVIDED GOVERNMENT SERVICES. Just try that move in China, or Russia, or Austria, or Australia- not gonna happen. Know why? Because no sane country would. The notion that it’s racist is absolutely ludicrous-why you ask? Because it’s against the law to cross our borders illegally that’s why. People are crying about families being separated and blaming this administration? Well that is simply mind control induced selective moral outrage from watching the liberal fake news CNN, NBC, MSNBC, and all those outrage machines” as I’ve labeled them. ANY FAMILY GETS SEPARATED WHEN THEY BREAK THE LAW- just try say taking your kids to the airport and any illegal contraband with you and them and try to get on the plane. Guess what happen when you get arrested? THEY TAKE YOUR KIDS AWAY. Same thing. Illegal immigration is illegal. Plain and simple. There is a line and a proper way to get into the country. What’s wrong with taking that route? Lastly we have crazy Hollywood actors like Alec Baldwin. He Is all for open borders but gets in a fistfight over a parking space?! Come on let’s stop the hypocrisy and the selective moral outrage. These Hollywood actors live in the biggest hypocrisy bubbles ever. The law is the law. Don’t like that? Change the law.

Absolutely not. For one, Trump ran heavily on the concept that Mexico would pay for the wall. If they won’t pay, we shouldn’t be forced to foot the bill for his lie. But beyond that, the wall is unnecessary security theater. We don’t have a massive immigration problem, it’s a right-wing myth. We have a problem, and it can be strengthened by putting more money into border patrol, and strengthening our efforts to tackle illegal border crossings with Mexico. A wall is a circumventable waste of money, and a dupe to trigger right-wing racists and nationalists.

I don’t understand the obsession with building a border wall. It’s a waste of my tax dollars, which by the way went up under the new tax law. There are more economical and efficient ways of securing the border, including such technology as drones, cameras, sensors, etc. The only reason I can see to build a physical wall is to enrich contractors at the expense of taxpayers.

No. There are other more pressing issues where my tax dollars can be utilized. A majority of Americans do not agree with the border wall. Our borders should not be lined with barbed wire. Protect freedoms do not continue to incite trump’s hate and bigotry with the funding of his wall. I can say with absolute certainty that if any of my representatives vote yes to this issue, they will never receive my vote for re-election in the future.

B$...... Who the hell has the audacity to say that a nation has no borders and we don’t need to protect the nation from illegals. PASS H.R 7059 TO FUND THE WALL & PROTECT BORDER I’m in agreement that for too long, Congress has neglected the security of the Southern border and, allowed immigration laws to incentivize illegal immigration. This bill provides full funding for the border wall, funds facilities to detain unauthorized immigrants while their legal claims are processed, and discourage sanctuary cities from releasing dangerous criminals. 11*5*18 ..... 🤔 .....
