Manufacturers would be required to make cleaner burning wood stoves and they pass the cost on to the customer...I think I wouldn't mind paying a little extra in order to ensure the emissions is minimized. Sometimes you have to invest in your future to ensure that you have one.
The title is very misleading. The regulation this bill would repeal does not affect existing woodstoves and other wood-burning heaters currently in use in people’s homes, it only establishes air quality standards for new wood-burning heaters. Basically, this bill just wants to exempt heater manufacturers from making cleaner-burning wood stoves. The regulation in question is here: https://www.epa.gov/residential-wood-heaters/final-new-source-performance-standards-residential-wood-heaters
This is a thinly-veiled attempt to strip an already-persecuted federal agency (that protects a common public good, the environment) of its ability to protect rural citizens from the dangerous anti-environmental factions of the economy, including the fossil fuel industries. A vote for this bill is a vote to destroy the environment, harm citizens, and line your pockets with cash provided by corporate interests and lobbyists. Taxpayers pay your salary to serve and protect citizens, not special interest groups.
This is so wrong and must be stopped. We don't want to go back to the days of 'killer smog' or rivers on fire. What the hell do these repugnicans want? A world that places profit for the wealthy above everything else. We can't let this happen. We owe it to our kids, we owe it to all other living things on this planet. These assaults would set us back 50 years, and would harm all. NO!
