The federal workforce is bloated, inefficient, and imposes too large a cost on taxpayers. It should be reduced by 10% from its current size except in times of national emergency.

Yes, the federal government is beyond inefficient and bloated. Too many people latched on to Uncle Sam taking away from much needed defense funding to combat the modern threats of AI and cyber warfare.

10% Is a small start. Let's make these cuts by looking at government agencies and whether or not Congress had the authority to create them. It's as simple a reading the Constitution. Less government means more freedom. Our founders understood this, and I applaud the way they achieved it.

A 10% reduction in the federal workforce would undermine public services and national security. The president shouldn’t be able to unilaterally declare an emergency to waive this reduction.

An across the board cut is not management, it’s the easy way to show immediate results. There are probably some departments that need to be cut by more than 10% and others that need budget increases, but that would require someone who truly knows how to manage, and it isn’t President Trump.

This is inappropriate. Personnel decisions should be made by deciding what needs to be done then staffing accordingly. This is a weak and wimpy approach to managing any workforce. It’s a cop-out. Because GOP is failing at governance, we see weak, wimpy stuff like this. Shameful. This 115th congress is a disaster.

Are you kidding me ? Federal workers are already overworked, underpaid and doing more work due to Trumps cuts. By making these cuts you are ensuring all federal agency are spread further thin then they already are. But know all republicans in Congress will look at this like a good thing, and not at all the millions of federal employees that it will effect and the economic Disparity that it will create.
Let’s start the freeze by attrition with the Senate, House of Representatives and the President. No one left in charge? No one left to do the work? So stop with this hiring freeze at the bottom crap.
60% is a better number. Get rid of all of the illegal departments and cut the others to the minimum until we are debt free.
Remember, when the computer generation would reduce the workforce? Didn't happen. Time for the Nickel Workforce Reduction Plan.
Most companies go through periods of overhaul as new positions are created and obsolete positions removed. Given our deficit we should be doing all we can to run a leaner, more efficient government. Eliminating excess will aid in a more agile response to an ever-changing worldwide political landscape.
How about just staffing these agencies sufficiently so that they can do their job well? Cut the woefully understaffed federal departments so that our government SEEMS more inefficient than it really is as a way of arguing that government is not as effective as private business? No thanks.
I'm all for people getting jobs, and as a federal employee, there needs to be more attrition in this sector.
