Should Intel Agencies Investigate Iran’s Use of Sanctions Relief & Cash Settlements for Terrorism?

Argument in favor

Iran has a history of funding terrorist groups and President Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria. The U.S. needs to ensure that Iran isn't using the sanctions relief and cash settlements it was given to fund terrorism around the world.

It's called "accountability". I my opinion, this should be done with ALL foreign aid.

Argument opposed

Intelligence agencies shouldn't focus specifically on how Iran is spending its influx of cash. U.S. sanctions against terrorism remain active against Iran and are the most effective levers to pull if Iran is, indeed, funding terrorism or Assad’s regime.

Some people fail to realize that this money was theirs in the first place. Also the agenda of the US has been to destabilize Iran for 30 years now. We installed a puppet and they ousted him, can we stop messing with other peoples countries. I’ve already fought in one war for these assholes, I’m not doing another

We broke our agreement with them by pulling out of the nuclear deal and yet we’re apparently so concerned about how they use their money which was theirs in the first place when we’ve already determined that most of it is being used for their domestic problems anyway. What a joke. This is a distraction from the most problematic country in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia.

Maybe if you wanted Iran to be accountable, the US should have stayed in the Iran agreement. Now, why should anyone give a damn about US requests for information. Trump is no diplomat and Iran was sticking to the deal and was accountable. Also, can some of you educate yourselves about the Iranian money that was legally returned to them after being held in the US for 30 years?

This Administration can’t even investigate there own. It was Iran’s money to begin with. Take the money that would be used for the investigation and start repaying the Social Security Money you took. Not that it makes any difference you don’t listen to the voters anyway.

This would actually be worth the time and effort to investigate unlike the unhinged left smear campaigns that have wasted Congressional efforts lately.

Of course. Verify, verify, verify. And then keep looking over their shoulder. Then verify some more. And remind them frequently that their country would make a fine parking lot. An unpopulated one. It’s Iran, after all.

This is NOT OUR PLACE TO DO THIS. It’s NATO’S JOB. Trump needs to keep his fingers out of the Iran deal. The other countries have told him that Iran is following the rules. He’s using Iran as SMOKE & MIRRORS to avoid talking about Russia.

This is just a partisan attempt to justify pulling out of the nuclear agreements keeping Iran from developing the bomb.

The idea behind intelligence gathering is to assess threats and protect the interests of the country. They are not to serve the personal agenda of the President of the United States. Iran has proxy’s in other parts of the world, we know who they are and we supply weapons, intelligence, and foreign aid to thwart their advances. But to allow some ‘nobody’ from Michigan to bring forth legislation for some questionable purpose sounds a lot like a former agenda of an Administration searching for a pretext to invade Iraq to avenge a decade old conflict with a Dictator named Saddam Hussein. The result of that decision produced a quagmire from which this country may not soon escape. We cannot allow the Trump Administration to once again embroil this country in a war for satisfying a personal agenda.

Distraction...Distraction! As has been said and known by other intelligent persons, not sycophants of Trump, the $$$ Iran got was THERE’s in the first place. The Sanctions in place now, in spite of Trump’s breaking the original agreement, are still in force. They could be increased if circumstances warranted it. Iran needs every $$$ now given back to them for its own domestic needs & survival.

Yes! What Obama, Hillary and Kerry did was treasonous. They sold out the USA and sent Iran 150 billion dollars which 1.5 billion was in cash. How did this happen?
