Local sources are closer to the problem and they know what is needed without federal grants.

Trauma and emergency care in the U.S. (especially for children) is actually worse than a lot of other countries. This will be money well-spent, saving lives.
the states need to be in control of their medical institutions. less control from the federal govt might make it possible for our hospital, nursing homes, etc survive in this era.
I'm opposed to the Federal Government using money to "encourage" the states to implement programs such as these. The Federal Government should give each state a block grant based on some formula considering the amount of Federal Taxes paid by the residents. The states should decide what to spend the money on.
Isn't this the second bill to address the same issue? Maybe they need to be combined. Anyway, if the federal government rules that patient be treated in the ER, then the federal government, the same entity that collects the taxes of the uninsured, should pay for it.
Single payer health care would eliminate the need for bills like this.
GET THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF HEALTHCARE!!!! Hospitals are for profit businesses, even the ones who say they aren't. The government has already slipped into bed with the insurance industry and a couple of years of the new healthcare law is going to show just what kind of bed-fellows they make. If the government would get out of the healthcare business COMPLETELY it could function the way it is supposed to.
Big brother oversight and involvement leads to inefficiency and bureaucracy. Let states mind their own business.

We are 18 TRILLION in debt. We cannot afford new programs. We should be cutting programs. Stop spending!!!
A Republican from Texas wants to improve federal funds for rural ERs? Sounds good. At the expected cost of 20 million a year (20¢ per year per citizen)? Go ahead, please!
Naturally, there needs to be oversight of what is working, and what is not! Using money this way makes more sense than funding studies of insect sexual habits! Please, people! American citizens and foreigners among us need to be the priority.
