The GOP's seeming disdain for the environment and any rule or agency that seeks to protect or preserve it is myopic and willfully ignorant at best and utterly inhuman at worst. Climate change exists. Choosing to ignore it WILL (not MAY) cost a vast number of human lives, make the US less safe (as US defense agencies have warned repeatedly) and exacerbate our immigration issues (as US defense agencies have also warned repeatedly).
The regulations of the EPA handcuff the growth and productivity of our economy. Turn environmental governance over to the state and local authorities. Let them manage their own affairs and take away the federal stranglehold.
Leave the EPA alone and let them do their job of protecting Americans! Please don't choose to ignore America's past battles with pollution from which the need of a regulatory body was created. The patchwork of state regulations aren't a suitable replacement for this important federal agency. If the EPA is weakened or abolished, many Americans may be poisoned by their own local environment which will lead to more sickness (healthcare!) and lawsuits!
Here in Logan, UT, we have air pollution formed from NOx and ammonia. Deregulating NOx is a bad idea for UT. And that's not even including the impacts of deregulating greenhouse gases. This bill is based in politics, not science.
The EPA is set up in a way that can proactively protect Americans from pollution disasters such as Love Canal, and imposing restrictions on the ability to identify and regulate emerging contaminants only increases the harm done to American public health.
This bill is a terrible idea! The EPA protects us and our environment from the immediacy of greed!! I have seen in my lifetime the positive effects of strong environmental regulation. It breaks my heart to think that some people, would turn back the clock. PLANET BEFORE PROFITS!!
The regulations are to protect the people, not corporations. Create more jobs and financial increases (which is what the republicans believe they will do by deregulating costly requirements) by investing in clean energy and power. Encourage job training in that industry. There will be no people to spend their money if there is no environment for them to live in. People will not accept going backwards.
