house Bill H.R. 6237

The Top Secret Intelligence Budget for FY2018-2019

Argument in favor

The intelligence community plays an integral role in ensuring the security of Americans and needs funding to do its job — even if the public can’t know how all of it will be spent.

I'm ok with this, as long as the funds are spent as intended and not used by the Trump administration to round up undocumented aliens or other nefarious purposes.

Under any other administration, I would vote for greater transparency, however I know for a fact that the only reason this bill is on the docket right now is because Prince Trumperdink is terrified of what information the IC has incriminating him, his family, his cabinet, and his Russian allies, and this is just a ploy for him to find out what they've got and do damage control. He does not deserve the consideration.

Argument opposed

Intelligence agencies should provide at least a general outline of how they’re spending taxpayer dollars on classified programs for the sake of transparency.

A budget for intelligence information to be used by trump. What an oxymoron.

This bill is sponsored by Nunes and he has been vital in obstructing the Mueller investigation. Therefore, I do not approve of this bill.

It’s senseless increasing the Intelligence Budget till we get an intelligent president who believes it.

This money should be used for the schools, federal lands, environment, ecology, etc. THE DEFENSE BILL ALREADY PASSED SHOULD BE USED FOR THE INTEL AND CYBER SECURITY. ITS A DEFENSE ITEM. LESS MUNITIONS & MORE CYBER SECURITY IN THE DEFENSE BILL.

Americans are tired of the lack of transparency and people in power taking advantage of their power. Why should we pass something that we have no idea about? So NO

I think Nunes is no better than a traitor and I can’t imagine any bill he introduced helping the country. US government intelligence agencies are already funded. I also wonder if the FBI is going to receive any of this money or if this is a way to punish them for being able to realize Trump is s con man. Lastly, the reason for my nay vote, we need to designate this money solely on cyber security making it a priority to keep any person or country from affecting our elections or bank accounts, etc.

I'm so sick of the liberal Democrats (not every liberal Democrats falls into this category. I'm not stereotyping) using the comments section to do nothing more than trash Trump! Those who do, typically have no idea what the actual proposal is about (not do I think they care) and they're truly only interested in making divisive comments that they seem to think are funny.

@Catt, if anything illegal had been found out on Trump or anything about collusion between Trump, Russia and the 2016 election, we all know that it would not be kept silent. So the fact that you say you know for a “fact” Trump is terrified that this will be made public is quite the joke. Maybe you should find out what the meaning of ‘fact’ is.

trump standing in front of the stars of fallen CIA officers while he spewed hateful, disrespectful, anti-American garbage should never be forgotten. We have a “president” who disparages the CIA and our institutions, and who with his foreign debts would not have been granted even basic government security clearance in any other position. Until we fix the destructive force at the top, it seems silly to pretend we can proceed normally in safeguarding and gathering intelligence the man child in charge will never read or regard.

We don't know how many millions of dollars are REALLY being appropriated, and there is no way of knowing that the funding provided to intelligence agencies will not be used against U.S. citizens who oppose the actions of Trump and his minions. A BIG, RESOUNDING "NO."
