house Bill H.R. 6210

Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act

Please support this bill. China needs to be held accountable for the atrocities against Uyghur Muslims. And we must ensure the US is not supporting the problem by importing goods created with forced labor. Thank you.

I write to you to urge you to do all you can to support the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (H.R. 6210 & S. 3471) to ensure that the sale of products in our American markets are not supporting the brutal oppression of Uyghurs in China. Over 1 million Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in China have been forced into “reeducation” camps where they face separation from their families, indoctrination, and torture. Unfortunately, the nightmare for many of these Muslims does not end at the walls of the camps. Chinese government officials coerce many former camp prisoners and local Muslim residents to work at factories and labor camps. They are often shipped far from their home as part of the Chinese government’s campaign to destroy their cultural identity. Products made from forced labor have already come to U.S. markets, as a New York Times investigation found that a shipment of face masks to Georgia came from a factory where over 100 Uyghurs workers had been sent. A report by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute found that Uyghur forced labor was likely in the supply chains of “at least 82 well-known global brands in the technology, clothing and automotive sectors, including Apple, BMW, Gap, Huawei, Nike, Samsung, Sony and Volkswagen.” Congress should act now to ensure that American dollars are not funding this oppression by passing the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act. Please contact the bill’s sponsors, Sen. Rubio or Rep. McGovern, to help secure more co-sponsors and build greater support this bill.
