This bill would increase the annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) made for veterans who receive some form of disability compensation.
The COLA is determined by a Congressional committee that refers to annual increases in Social Security compensation, which increase automatically.
According to the most recent Census data (2014), there are 3.8 million veterans with a service-related disability. Disability compensation is applied to veterans who are at least 10 percent disabled due to injuries and/or diseases that they received during their military service.
