Cutting Off Federal Funds and Services for Undocumented Residents

Argument in favor

Prevents federal agencies and the executive branch from shielding undocumented immigrants illegally residing in the United States. Taxpayer should not be funding services for people who are in this country illegally.

Immigrants have built this country. However, those immigrants had a strong incentive and an opportunity to better their own situations by working hard and reaping the benefits of their own labor. Today, immigrants flock to the U.S. to receive welfare. Their intentions are good and are understandable, but we need an environment which encourages them to come under conditions enabling them to live freely and enjoy their own success.

This is simply the progressives creating another voting block for themselves. In some states, getting a driver's license automatically registers you to vote. It's illegal for our government to give MY earnings to a felon, and they don't care. My reps are in Washington to represent ME, not a group of felons. This MUST be stopped before the progressive take over our government completely and irreversibly. When that happens, kiss all your constitutionally guaranteed freedoms goodbye. It would be far cheaper to fly every one of these felons home than to support with the ever shrinking pool of TAXPAYER dollars. The next election will be overrun with voter fraud committed by the progressives and the ILLEGAL aliens. And the progressives will have won, no matter how illegal the election was. Obama's Supreme court will stand by them. Think about that Kinzinger.

Argument opposed

Cuts off protection already granted to immigrants who have successfully applied for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Undermines the fight for progressive immigration reform.

Aid should not be taken from those to whom it has already been granted. DACA helps with progressive immigration reform, a hallmark of our country's heritage.

Law-abiding undocumented individuals who have integrated in society and serve a purpose for our collective advancement are entitled to a path to legalization. It is not the government's duty to tear families apart for no real reason other than the misplaced frustration of the few.

Allowing undocumented immigrants to collect federal funding is nonsensical. We shouldn't privilege those who chose to illegally enter our country because it only further incentivizes more immigrants to do the same thing.

We must reorganize our immigration system. If we made becoming a citizen easier, this enforcement would mainly apply to criminals who come here under the radar. However applying it now could severely damage families overall.

Illegal immigrants should not be able to receive tax-payer money while their whole presence in this country breaks the law.

Only those who go the through the process the correct way deserve money to go towards helping their new life. We need to create better initiatives for people to go threw the immigration process the right way. Or what's the point of having a process at all?

I don't think we need to funnel federal aid to undocumented residents. I'm for immigration reform and helping those w/o legal documentation become verified citizens — but in so many words, take a number.

We need to facilitate the access to jobs (that many Americans don't want) in this country to people from other countries. These people should pay taxes and the cost of health insurance etc. just like the rest of us. People should be welcome here, but the must pay their way, and would be subject to deportation if involved in illegal activities.

I do not understand why my representatives are more interested in helping those who are here illegally than their own citizens. It is the money I pay in taxes that they are so generous with. Coffman and Gardner are both wrong in their vote. This I would have expected from a democrat.

America is a nation of immigrants, and if we were to abandon those individuals who risk their lives to get to this country we are sacrificing that most basic American ideal. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" This is the idea that lives in the heart of this nation.

american citizens cannot afford to pay for undocumented residents social benefits, nor the education of their children. citizens already out of work, on SNAP, welfare are our top priority. our states, localities will feel the brunt of undocumented residents flooding into their localities, states. many of them are already convicted criminals with criminal histories. amnesty, as our president has declared for 4 million some undocumented residents will be able to collect social security, food stamps, welfare at the expense of tax-payers. we need border security first, then true, constitutional immigration reform. illegals already on waiting list need help to expedite their citizenship, first. terrorist have open borders to committ terrorism. a terrorist attack worse than 9/11 is reality if our sovereignty is not genuinely protected from people who come from Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan.

We must make it easier to gain a pathway to citizenship, not harder. We must move towards opening our borders like they were for the founding fathers.
