Sanctions for China’s Cyber-Spying

Argument in favor

Economic espionage costs U.S. businesses money and jeopardizes jobs. The government should do everything it can to prevent China from stealing corporate and defense secrets.

The Chinese government should be sent a message of some kind which demonstrates that we consider cyber attacks on the same level as if they had attacked is physically.

This is a greater potential threat to national security than many realize. Especially in the long term.

Yes but we need to protect ourselves from any country from doing that. I feel China should be punished for that. We need the best tactical defense computers for all major entities. I saw recently isis hacked into and found one hundred soldiers. We need everything more than up to date it needs to be futuristic.

Argument opposed

The government should be focusing on improving our country's cyber security, not singling out China. Sanctions would make a tense relationship even more hostile.

We should strengthen cyber security. Many countries are doing this to the U.S. Going after China will only create issues and not fix the problem. I say cyber attack them 😉

As much as the China cyber hacking infuriates me, putting sanctions on China will do nothing but make relations worse, and hurt both countries as there may be a retaliatory cyber attack. We need to strengthen our defenses in this situation, not go after China offensively. Nothing good will come of that.

Why would we pretend like we are not spying on them? If we give them too many shit sanctions, we won't be able to buy anything. Our wages haven't effectively been raise since 1970. Inflation is already killing us. We don't need more money going to the bloated government. We will pay for the sanctions, not China.

The majority of technology China now has is in direct relation to demand(s) for technology from technology companies outside China who wish to manufacture their products in China.

U.S. Is the biggest spy in this world. How could you condemn another country when U.S. Itself isn't clean?

YES, what people seem not to understand at all is the fact that China is a imperial dictatorship. Political countries like China want to expand. We are at war already with China and every person in AMERICA has no idea that they are. China manipulates the value of our own money. China has manipulated the world industrial competition by playing with a totally unfair advantage. China steals our ideas in industry and in the military. China can sabotage our internet intellectual security banking security, business security military security and ultimately our nation. CHIP CHIP CHIPPING AWAY piece by piece and we think we are not at war. AMERICA is indebted to China and they can pull the rug out from under our feet at any time. When do we want to make China nervous for what they are doing to us, after we have no ability to make them nervous? After we have built up their confidence and their military? AMERICA HOLDS 1/23RD OF THE WORLDS POPULATION. WE HAVE DISMANTLED OUR INDUSTRY AND OUR STRENGTH AND TURNED 3RD WORLD COUNTRIES INTO PROSPEROUS INDUSTRIALIZED NATIONS. AMERICA IS NOT A POPULAR COUNTRY BECAUSE EVERYONE IS ENVIOUS OF OUR PAST PROSPERITY. people in former third world countries have spent their histories existence begging borrowing or stealing what they have just to survive. Those type of people see Kindness as Weakness and simply as stupidity. AMERICAS #1 interest in this world should be AMERICA herself, First and Foremost.

Absolutely, these cyber spies are stealing technology and in essence our innovation. Why we still deal with China as an ally is beyond me. They're building their military and its a matter of time before they can and will challenge the U.S.

Cyber attacks are potentially just as damaging to American investments as a real attack would be. Allowing this espionage and subsequent attacks to occur is against America's best interests
