house Bill H.R. 487

Should the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Have to Get Permission From Congress to Transfer Lands?

Argument in favor

Letting the MIami Tribe of Oklahoma make its own decisions regarding its property would make things more efficient for Congress and the Tribe.

The title question for this bill was misleading. Vote "yea" if you think that the Oklahoma tribe should be able to govern its land without oversight by congress

The wording is misleading. My initial vote was "No". After reading other's opinions and the confusing verbiage of this Bill brought to my attention, I most certainly do support the Tribe should be able to handle their own business without interference from the Government.

Many people are voting no saying "fed get out of Indian land." This bill is *designed* to get the federal govt out of Indian land. If you want that, vote yes!

Argument opposed

Congress has to play a role in overseeing the decisions that the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma makes with its property to ensure they don’t do something wrong.

Let them manage their own land and accept responsibility for it! They do not need federal oversight or taxpayer dollars!
