If this bill is enacted, more wolves will die. Wolves are an essential part of the ecosystem in Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. They help maintain a natural and healthy balance of all creatures, benefitting the land and humans. This bill must be opposed.
Wolves have just begun to recover in some areas of the US after being ruthlessly hunted and trapped for 200 years. While there are some fragile successes, grey wolves are still missing from a vast majority of their former range, and are subject to mounting persecution in areas where they have been restored.
Millions of dollars have already been spent restoring a natural ecosystem with reintroduction of wolves and other keystone predators such as Grizzly Bears. These animals are proven to be crucial for health of prey animals and onward down the food chain. They are only still restricted to a very small area, and livestock fatalities have been an extremely small, if not negligable casualty, especially when weighed against the benefits of wolf reintroduction and protection.
