Say what you will about Ali; you either love him or hate him. But let's disregard the name of the bill for a second and just focus on what it actually DOES. This bill would go towards fostering leadership development of young people around the world. That is important. Contrary to popular belief, what happens abroad actually does have a significant effect on us. Do we want more Assads in the world, or more Mandelas?

We are a global citizen and global improvement will improve this country. We need educational improvement to be a priority in this country . Campaign finance reform could level the playing field for all candidates, make running and holding office easier and cost efficiet. Savings could be picke up as taxes and invested in education as well as infrastructure, middle income, national mprovement generating more tax revenue.

Why is this funding only going toward fostering the growth of young leaders abroad? Let’s keep the funding within the country and encourage the development of young leaders in the U.S.

The government just loves to promote bills with emotional basis. If this bill wasn't supposedly in honor of Ali, almost no one would support it.

All grants of any kind for anything should be handled privately. The government has no business in it. I only want my money spent on things that are absolutely vital to the survival of the country and not a penny spent on anything else.

5 MUSD is 0.0001% of the 2016 proposed US budget. Meaning, this funding is a near guarantee to have no oversight and funds will be abused (especially if directed abroad). Though it's cause nobel and its namesake a great humanitarian, this cause is a societal issue and should be supported by the community, not a government. Ali was great without such a bill; we should strive for the same.
Since when are we so rich that we can afford to give grants to help young emerging FOREIGN leaders? How about using this "spare cash" to pay down our national DEBT!
While this may seem like a noble gesture, I'm sick and tired of Congress looking for more and more ways to spend hard-earned taxpayer dollars!! And for FOREIGNERS! We have SO MANY THINGS IN AMERICA THAT NEED TENDING TO!
I'm very concerned about our aging infrastructure. I'm ESPECIALLY concerned that nothing seems to be getting done to harden our national electric grid against an EMP! Or maybe you don't think that the threat is REAL?! I suspect that we're more likely to suffer this type of attack than a nuclear attack, and an EMP attack (man made or natural) would have DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES!! Yet, I don't see people worrying about preparing for one! I imagine government installations are protected, although I'm not sure about that. But what about the rest of us?! What about our hospitals and food and medical supplies distribution systems and law enforcement agencies?! I don't like the alternative of rounding up people and putting them in FEMA camps, and that seems to be what out federal government has in mind for us!
Why does our government squander our money on illegal aliens and a failed Obamacare and propping up foreign leaders and globalist agendas, rather than focusing on our homeless, jobless and dying veterans?! Why are we not seeing any REAL REFORM in our CORRUPT GOVERNMENT AGENCIES?!
Democrats and RINOs LOVE these "feel good" bills and don't seem to mind wasting money. IT'S TIME WE INSIST THAT THEY WORK HARDER TO GET RID OF THE WASTE IN GOVERNMENT SPENDING, SLIM DOWN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN GENERAL, AND ALLOCATE MONEY FOR MORE IMPORTANT THINGS THAT WILL MAKE AMERICA STRONGER!
Not to take anything away from M. Ali, this is another form of foreign aid. Any grants should be privately funded.

Is the Five Million dollars coming out of our US government funds? If so, then no I am not for it. I'm concerned that the funds will wind up in the hands of terrorists. Also, I don't trust Secretary Kerry to make decisions for us.
True leaders need no help from our Congress, our people, or any politically-appointed Secretary of State. This is not the function of the federal government.
I feel we should be more consirend with our own wayword youth and their total education about real leadership and not control of people.

Muhammad Ali led his life presented himself as a citizen of the world or just the US. I feel like he would like to see this go toward the benefit of the entire world not just the US.
