Official Title

To repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and health care-related provisions in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, and for other purposes.

Summary

This bill repeals the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the health care provisions of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010. The repeal is effective on January 1, 2020. Provisions of law amended by the repealed provisions are restored. The budgetary effects of this bill must not be entered on the PAYGO scorecards maintained by the Office of Management and Budget.

    The ACA has given more Americans access to health care. If repealed with no reasonable alternative, the middle class and poor will suffer. Preexisting conditions must continue to be covered. If it is not mandatory to have insurance, the health system will be overrun with the seriously ill. More people will be forced to use emergency rooms as a source of care.

    As an Affordable Care Act facilitator who works in very poor western, NC, I can tell you first hand that the ACA is desperately needed (most voted Republican). The tragedy is that a large portion of these folks hate Obama and Obamacare, but love The Affordable Care Act. Personally, if Obamacare is repealed and not replaced, I will not have insurance. People with no insurance use the emergency room as a clinic. An expense that is unnecessary and not the best way for people to get care, especially yearly checks and preventative care. I'm also a Registered Nurse.

    Do not repeal the ACA. It has helped preventative care more than anything else in history. By blindly voting the party line, you ate letting us all down.

    The ACA is a joke that may have provided healthcare to many who needed it but it hurt many more and took away the people's freedom to choose wether they even wanted healthcare. False promises were made and and many were faced to pay more so that they could pick up the slack of others who in many cases refused to do their fair share when capable. I believe BASIC healthcare should be available and all necessary or important healthcare should be AFFORDABLE but we need to go about things a different way.

    The ACA has saved millions of lives and millions of dollars. Plus, there is no replacement in the works, so it would be insane to repeal it!

    No repeal of Obamacare! The ACA is a great thing for Americans of most social classes. It is by far and away better than we have ever had. Please Republicans, do not screw us over again.

    Better to repair ACA now then go to Single payer for preventative & catostrophic. Everyone has skin in the game buying supplemental insurance through co-ops, private, etc.

    Cowards, instead of fixing the problems with the ACA you are threatening to take us backwards. Instead of finding ways of actually covering the remaining Americans without coverage, improving access, and lowering costs; you are instead destroying any progress made but to cowardly to do it before the next election.     I am too young for Medicare. I was uninsured for 5 years until affordable Obama-care came into effect.

    Many small businesses and farms cannot afford group insurance plans to cover themselves and employees. In rural areas small businesses and farms comprise most of the economy. These people would be hardest hit by the repeal.

    Healthcare is a human right. The ACA has provided affordable health care to MILLIONS of Americans. The only way it should be repealed is if we expand Medicare for all (universal coverage).
