house Bill H.R. 3494

Should Congress Approve Intelligence Agencies' (Mostly Classified) FY2020 Budgets?

Argument in favor

The Intelligence Community plays an integral role in ensuring the security of Americans and needs funding to do its job — even if the public can’t know how all of it will be spent.

Yes, funding intelligence ops is very important. I agree with some general notional round about totals to give the public a little meat to chew on. But even without that, it is important to keep ongoing ops funded and be forward looking regarding both existing and developing threats. We need to hold Trump & Co. and all officials accountable for sharing or leaking intel to foreign nationals- particularly as Trump did to the Russians with info shared with us from allied sources. That was inexcusable- I don’t care what office you hold. The only other thing I did not see emphasized was cooperative sharing of pertinent classified info between our own agencies.

Absolutely they should be approved perhaps more now than ever before.

Argument opposed

Intelligence agencies should provide at least a general outline of how they’re spending taxpayer dollars on classified programs for the sake of transparency.

Not a fan of blank check black hole spending. I understand that we have to keep some secrets, but we don’t even have a top number estimate. We are talking about BILLIONS OF DOLLARS of taxpayers money disappearing into a black hole called “classified”. I don’t need individual program names, but at least give us a vague outline, top line totals, or something.

Obviously, it’s necessary to keep most intelligence activities classified. However, we should know the full amount that our government is spending on intelligence agencies! The total amount should not be a secret! This is our money and therefore the American people should know the amount that we’re spending on every government agency!

All a waste of money when you have a moron who trusts Russian intelligence more than his own leading the country.

Yes, yes, yes! Can we let them do their job and not Trumps lackey? Let’s keep as much of a country together as we can until we get this dictator out!

Most of these are very important. In this Putin/Trump administration it’s a double edged sword. We need most of what is listed in this ACT & BILL BUT with this administration it’s hard to know if the monies will be spent on what we need.
