The president shouldn’t be able to issue pardons and reprieves without notifying the public, especially if they’re issuing pardons related to an investigation they or their associates may be involved in.

I totally agree that pardons should be made public. Rubio your office is excused from responding to me. All of my efforts are going against you in the next election even if the other choice is mini- mouse. You represent your own agenda not that of the people you represent. The president isn’t required to make information about pardons and reprieves public, and it’s not clear that Congress has the constitutional authority to require that they be disclosed. This bill is purely political.

He is a public official and any action not directly endangering national security should be open to public scrutiny.
Of course this information should be public. Otherwise it becomes a way of hiding the crimes of your cronies.
I cannot think of any downside to increasing transparency.
In the eye of the beholder. I certainly believe the citizens need to know why. We learned, post facto, that a former president's pardon of Marc Rich, a former hedge-fund manager who had been indicted on multiple counts of tax evasion, wire fraud and racketeering and a hefty contribution to the Clinton Foundation. Wish we had a CarFax type application back when.
If he insists on seeing my voter information, everyone he issues pardons to should be public information as well.

Unfortunately, the unprecedented corruption of the 45th "president" necessitates the passage of this bill. We can no longer trust the president, presidential advisors, or the cabinet to act in the public interest or within the law, so transparency must be mandated in law.

As it is, there are no rules to make the president publish to whom he gives a pardon. That would is wrong on lots of fronts, but mostly it's unfair to the people who were hurt by these criminals. They deserve to be notified if these people are getting out. It needs to be public information.
It has been in the Presidents power to pardon since the beginning. There is a reason that it was written the way that it is. Congress needs to get to work repealing the ACA and reducing taxes and stop the political nonscence.
They should be made public. In fact, this would have been a fine bill for the Republicans to have offered during Clinton's time in office.
