Should Alaska's National Archives Be Kept In Anchorage?

Argument in favor

Local records matter most to state residents; moving the archives to Seattle deprives Alaskans of access to their own history.

Alaskans value their heritage and having access to it is both a responsibility and reasonable expectation.

I live in Seattle, and this is obvious for me. Alaskans should get the easiest possible access to their own stuff. Plus, it costs to move anything. More waste of money.

Kept in Alaska along with the bill for the storage like all the other states.

Argument opposed

Giving federal property to a municipality has the potential to create ownership issues down the road. Digitization should make this a non-issue.

Alaska's records should be kept in Alaska; but Alaskans should be footing the bill instead of the United States taxpayer.

This is a state issue not federal. The archives should be kept where the Alaskan PEOPLE want to keep them

Alaskans should decide this, not the people in the federal government.
