Rescinding Roughly $15 Billion in Unspent Budget Authority From Prior Fiscal Years
Argument in favor
Every now and then Congress needs to do some spring cleaning and clawback funding it had previously allocated that went unspent. Rescinding $15 billion in taxpayer dollars that were sitting idle helps put the government on a better fiscal footing.

This is a no brainer. Take the money that is unused, properly adjust the department’s fiscal needs to accurately address the idle money, and use this for debt relief. Start paying this outrageous debt we have and win back our fiscal sovereignty.

Rescinding $15 billion in budget authority that federal agencies aren’t currently using is unwise, as circumstances could change and then they'll have to go back to Congress asking for money to deal with the problem.

What a joke. The GOP stole $1.5T from you and me to give a $5T wet kiss to corporations and billionaires and now they are suddenly worried about fiscal responsibility? And it’s just purely a coincidence that most of the programs they want to purge are for lower and middle income people. It’s time for these corporate cronies to go. Remember in November.

I don’t trust this particular Congress to use money for the best. If you read the details part of this money is for the CHIPS program- healthcare for children. I’d feel better if the Congress would reinstate the funds to the States

Mr McCarthy, FULLY FUND CHIP. Congress refuses to do Anything but be fearful of the Commander on Cheese and re-election in #Vote2018. Mitch McConnell won’t let allocation bills go to the floor! Tell congress to only use the money for the projects it was approved for
Put the money in Social Security, which the Government has been stealing from for decades. And close all useless, wasteful programs, whether the budget is being used or not, to pay back Social Security. Then maybe you could stop terrorizing seniors with your constant threats to decimate the program (like you’re already planning to do in FY19). If you think the tent cities are bad in California, wait to see what you are about to create!
Absolutely! Reallocate it to the border wall or use it to other places such as infrastructure projects etc...
Some of these budget “excess” only exists because they killed important components to undermine the program (CHIP) or because IQ45 hates poor people (Housing assistance), or some other “not-actually-real” reason. So no. To end this problem it would be better to let funds roll over to the next fiscal year. That way departments aren’t incentivize to spent money on bad programs because they fear budget cuts.
It makes great sense to take funding programed for, but not used, and put into use in places where needed rather then squandered away just sitting unused.

Who knows, their slimy republicans working for Koch’s, Mercer’s and Adelson. Our money going for the large tax cuts. Trumps buddy, Mercer owes 5 billion in taxes. Collect it (add on). Because the reward for working under budget shouldn't be a smaller budget. That's how you get increasingly bloated departmental budgets. Reauthorize their spending.
Sorry 2018 Congress, but I don't trust you to put the money to good use. Let it stay where it is, so it can be used on what it was budgeted for.
