If Congressman Lewis thinks this is an appropriate change, I think it should certainly be made. Preserving and empowering the message of the Civil Rights movement is timely and deserves our best efforts.
Let's show our respect for MLKJr by honoring the testimony of his widow, Loretta Scott King, against Jeff Sessions. Oh, too much to ask? Okay, yeah, let's just do something symbolic like name a park then...
We need to focus more on the important matters and less on things like this right now. It seems like wasted funds which just add up to large sums of taxpayer dollars. It'd be nice to do but let's focus on lowering our national debt and actually fulfilling government responsibilities.
I would love to see this happen. But I just voted nay on a similar bill naming federal buildings after someone because I feel there are other priorities for how we and our congresspeople should be spending time and money. I think MLK would want us to be focused more on the injustices that still plague our country rather than naming sites after him.
Without seeing the map hard to understand it's implications. Considering Mr. Lewis's history and representation of GA, I'd expect it to be within the parameters respecting and preserving the park in historical aspects that don't protect it as it is currently.
