Does Congress Need Annual Reports on Where Medicare Recipients Live?

This bill would require the Dept. of Health and Human Services to report the specifics of who's using Medicare to Congress. This will make the program more transparent, keep policymakers informed, and lead to more thoughtful healthcare laws.

Congress may not need the data but if it is not being tracked it increases the likelihood of loss of control and billing/payment fraud. However the push for Obamacare digitized health records is a Big Brother consolidation move that many find ominous.

Especially if congress is going to link federal funding to state block grants we have to know where the populations of Medicare patients live to ensure proper funding to those areas otherwise patients will be under funded and go with out care.

Why does Congress need such specific information? How will the zip codes and congressional districts of Medicare recipients help lawmakers make better informed policy decisions? Without proof that they'll actually read it, these reports are a waste of time.

Conceptually, a good idea; but no statement of why Congress wants the data (specifically) and what policy changes might come from the review. Also no apparent increase in funding to pay for the data collection and report generation.

This is all about targeting voters. There is no other logical reason for that kind of information. This is why we need term limits.

It should not matter where one lives with in boundaries of the United States. If one is legally entitled to receive Medicare. In time, reasons will be sought out to give the Government the abilities to alter the amount one receives based on the demographics of where one lives. Will the next decisions be based on age, or the severity of the health. (Burden in the system.) please do not unlock this door.

I agree that this may be a way for Politicians to track voters. There is no real reason given why they need this bill or why it's even been written. This stinks of the John Birchers ( formerly Tea Party). Don't we have other things to be working on Congress?

This information is already collected, under current legislation, by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Why does Congress insist on wasting government resources? Let your representatives know that we will not tolerate Congressional waste any longer & let's focus on more important issues..!
Sounds to me like they just want to know how many Medicare recipients there are in their districts. Time to make laws to benefit the nation, not the inhabitants of Congressman X's district.

Hell No no no, I just read about how congress is trying to put a bill through to make sure the government Internet or my info that government has on line and computers is safe and will not be hacked or released....then some house or senate member would be a report like this and what? That's my confidential information possibly left at the local bar or restaurant at lunch or left anywhere for other eyes to see....it's still confidential and a report lying around somewhere is just like being HACKED old school. The only reason they would want this us they think this is a list of poor people or lazy people or disabled or elderly and they can screw up our voting rights and screw with our local politics.
