Should the Feds Give States Grant Money to Create Anonymous School Threat Reporting Systems?

Argument in favor

Ahead of school shootings, there are sometimes warning signs that go unreported. Creating anonymous tip lines for people to report potential red flags will help keep schools and students safe.

Or you know, gun safety laws. But since we can’t acknowledge the fact that more guns equal more gun deaths, let’s spend massive amounts of $$ whiffing around with other fluff to create the illusion of safety. Yeah, good plan. Please ignore the stomach cancer, doc, I just need a antacid. It’s fine. Really. 🙄

A warning system won't cure the sickness of America's unhealthy romance with guns, but I'm in favor of anything that could catch a disaster before it started.

Look a few bad apples will take make prank the system, but having pranks can be fixed by having rules in place to punish those individuals. All threats should be taken serious to prevent enough school shooting.

Argument opposed

Safe2Tell’s anonymity can be abused by student pranksters or those seeking to cause disruption. Additionally, many states have already invested in these programs on their own so federal action may not be needed.

STOP spending money on everything BUT the OBVIOUS answer!! You can have as many active shooter videos, reporting systems and useless bandaids as you want. NONE of it matters until meaningful gun reform is passed. Only in America would u pay actors to act in a video about how to avoid getting shot instead of PREVENTING it!!!!!!!!!

Twenty five million is way too much money. All you have to do is call the local police department & request to be anonymous. This is a blatant waste of tax payer dollars. These monies could be used to curb an opioid crisis & dumping of chineese goods into our country. To keep manufacturers open in America instead of sending our jobs over seas!

Stop wasting money. Abolish the department of education, allow the states to manage their own schools.

Eliminate the real issue assault rifles, high-capacity magazine’s, insufficient background checks that don’t check across state lines non-existent red flag laws required annual evaluation’s. We should do everything to protect humans while lessening the rights of guns. The constitution was written to protect people not weapons used to kill people.

At one time in the distant past, I would have agreed with this idea. However, liberals have poisoned three well with their bigotry about the rest of us to create narratives that we are racist white supremacist Nazi homophobes who are a danger to humanity. They can’t be trusted not to abuse an anonymous reporting system, they will abuse it under the guise of their sanctimonious narratives.

I don’t trust the current Attorney General to administrate this. Can an independent non government entity - completely separate from trump and trump’s corrupt criminal regime- be in charge? Then I would be supporting it.

There should be a federal program to address this issue, rather than develop 1,000 different programs in different cities and school districts, etc. We need more centralized data centers that share information nationally, as necessary.

We don’t need an anonymous hotline for school threats. We need gun control heightened. Right idea, wrong solution.

This should not require federal money.

Why deal with the symptoms instead of the core problem? This is a human heart issue which can only be fixed spiritually! Restore the fear of the Lord in the classroom. Repost the 10 Commandments and restore Bible study in the classroom. This is a Christian Nation and until hearts return to accepting Jesus as our Redeemer and Savior, the chaos will grow worse.
