Should The Government Fund More Comprehensive Local Efforts Against Trafficking And Child Pornography?

Argument in favor

Federal funding for state-level agencies is essential for effectively combating trafficking. Traffickers deserve larger fines, and buyers deserve harsher punishments.

Child pornography online has doubled in the last year. We can do more - we need to do more.

If the US is the policeman of the world, then why is there human slavery anywhere on this planet? Either we root out trafficking or we close our borders and require a comprehensive VISA and travel itinerary from everyone entering or leaving the country.

State agencies cannot police the actions of these perverts across state borders. That means that the feds must do it.

Argument opposed

This legislation forces states to foot part of the bill, making these anti-trafficking efforts more expensive than they seem on the surface.

This is a state issue. You have neither the ability, or the understanding to police individual states! There is no amount of money that would pay for the cost of your inefficient, corrupt services. The amount you already take and waste is the reason our state governments don't have the resources needed to provide effective policing. Our constitution does not give you that power and the governments usurpation of the states resources is the real problem!

Local issues are best handled locally with local resources. Why invent new opportunities to shower federal tax largesse into areas distant from its contributors? Why should that make a round trip (less the brokerage fee of having traveled to the Federal treasury) if it is merely to come back to those original contributors? Leave that portion be! The whole cynical point of taking it on that route is to NOT repatriate it whence it had come. Makes little difference the pretext, as the familiar process empowers those brokers in governmt service and coerces us further down the path of being its mere subjects.

The States should do this as it will be more effective and less jumping through hoops.

There are hardly any instances of trafficking. This bill is very simply an anti sex worker bill with a fancy name.

Keeping this at a state level allows these cases to fall through the cracks and enables sexual exploitation, slavery, and trafficking. This is a nationwide issue that should be a nationwide zero tolerance. Shame on people for not believing that this is a priority when it runs rampant on the dark web. DISGUSTING!

this has to be done of fed level!! just take I-25 and its corridor. 3 states at least. charge the highest crime to these people - whoever is involved with stealing children and women, buying them, spreading tips etc - on a fast track sentencing and let's stop this for once and for all.
