Argument in favor

Allows indigenous Alaskans to preserve traditional art without being fined by the U.S. government.

The Native American culture IS their religious belief. There is no separation between the two, besides...how dare we lie, cheat, kill their people, steal their land AND control what they are allowed to use for their crafts too!

If it is taken on Indian land by tribal membership. No taking of endangered species from any other lands, either public or private.

Argument opposed

This bill only applies to Alaskan Natives and excludes other Native American art traditions.

This is not a federal government issue that should be decided by a house/senate in which the majority don't really understand Alaskans point of view of this issue. This should be decided within the Alaska state government.

I say no because there isn't a reason for this anymore; I know they say it's for their traditions, but I call bs on the idea since it allows them use endangered birds. I know if the Christians and Jews still slaughtered goats there would be a bill to allow it, but I guarantee it wouldn't last.

All art by all people should not be fined for using non edible bird parts. This is another ridiculous law that needs to be completely removed

Let them do as they please. I say let them act as a sovereign country, they were here first.

I am not sure why they need permission in the first place but there must be something we can do that helps the birds and our original landlord

Natives killing are not the cause of endangered species. It is the rest of us.

Only Alaskans understand their own population! The US congress should not weigh in! Consider how wrong you were about what to call Denali--Alaskans wanted one thing, people in the lower 48 wanted a day & got it wrong. Put your limited energy & in-between vacation time into national, not local, issues!

Yes. As long as endangered species are excluded.

Let the state of Alaska deal with this. Besides, it was originally the Natives' land.

Native Alaskans abuse the "subsistence" and "culture" laws already in place. If you talk to a member of that community you would know how ridiculous these laws are.

So much for "small government"! I believe we have much more important issues to deal with. If we don't act on global warming, we may not have birds to use parts from. Let's get our priorities straight!
